AREA
The amount of surface enclosed by a closed figure is called its area.
Area of a rectangle = (length × breadth)
Area of the square = side × side
Page 138 – Figure It Out
1.The area of a rectangular garden 25 m long is 300 sq m. What is the
width of the garden?
Area of rectangular garden = 300 sq.m
Length of the rectangular garden = 25 m
Area of rectangular field = l × b
Breadth = Area ÷ length = 300 ÷ 25
⇒ b = 12 m
2. What is the cost of tiling a rectangular plot of land 500 m long and
200 m wide at the rate of ₹8 per hundred sq m?
