[email protected] YASAS
Greetings from Mykonos! I am here for two weeks giving
lectures, workshops and demonstrations of a wide range of
esoteric practices, such as tarot readings, ancient greek
divination, hypnosis, pendulums, dream interpretation and
more. I am also performing at the beautiful festival (The
Eternal Festival) that is taking place here at an incredible
venue called Scorpios, as well as doing tarot and intuitive
readings.
Walking around the venue, I am often stopped by people
with various questions regarding their personal interests in
numerous subjects. I like to be able to demonstrate at least
an above average amount of knowledge on subjects that
are not necessarily my strong points, rather than simply
saying, “I’m not too sure”.
I have a huge amount of knowledge in some areas, a
lesser amount in others and in a few, I know nothing (I
Ching and Chinese Astrology, for example).
One area that I know a decent amount about, but still not
enough to claim to be an expert in is Astrology, I’m no
Astrologer. I can reveal signs like any mentalist, talk about
them like any reader, but when it comes to the really in-
depth stuff, I fall short.
Being here, I am asked quite a lot about Astrology, and
although I do incorporate some in my readings (if and
when it comes up), but I needed to dig out an old
favourite technique to help me get by.

My mind is elsewhere. I need to use my mental capacity
for methods for other routines, techniques and ideas that I
am using here, so my Scorpion system is a perfect tool for
me to use here without too much, if any, mental efforts
regarding Astrology.
I forgot how useful this system was, so as I relax here
before an entire afternoon of readings begins, I thought I
would share this clever little nugget with you!
My current view. Not bad eh?

[email protected] EXPLANATION
All you need are 12 business cards and a pen. “What’s
that? Another Le Val release using business cards?” Yeah,
it is!
You will be making your own Astrology cards with very
specific and useful bits of information written on them.
Now although you could design some cards in photoshop
and have them professionally printed, when it comes to
things like this I much prefer the hand written look on my
business cards. The reason for this is just like I wrote in
my ebook, Archetype;
***If you pull out some specially printed cards, then that
is what they will be seen as, specially printed cards.
Personally, I feel awkward pulling out an item that isn't
instantly recognisable or identifiable. I even struggle to
pull out a pendulum for this very reason. Also, if the cards
are professionally made, it looks like this is something that
you have gone out and bought, read a guide book on and
began using. If you have your own, handwritten cards, it
sends a completely different message. Using handwritten
cards subtly shows that this is something that you have
come to understand by yourself, and nobody else is doing
this because the cards don't exist for it. It is also much
more personal, you have taken the time to write and use
these cards and people will have a quiet respect for that. It
is like in Luke Jermay’s brilliant Emotional Intelligence,
he goes to do readings for psychics and instead of pulling
out specially printed cards, he has his own stack of
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons [email protected]
handwritten cards. It gives off a completely different vibe.
It is almost as if the cards themselves aren't important, and
the important part is the interaction between the performer
and the spectator, which I think, is as it should be.***
Although many other people around the world are doing
Astrology, nobody else will be doing it via the use of your
own, handmade, personal cards.
On each card, you will be writing the main astrological
sign in the middle, and in each of the 4 corners; a lucky
number, alphabetical association, element and linked sign.
This ‘linked sign’ will be your key to revealing your
spectator’s sign.
The lucky number will tell you (approximately) the month
they were born in, and will also tell you the order of the
cards (should they ever become accidentally mixed) and
will also tell you the element of your spectator’s sign.
The element will give you a reading prompt.
The alphabetical association (letters) will inspire content
for the reading.
Here is a photo of my set;
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] You may have noticed the lack of detail or even pleasing
appearance of the cards. This is for a few reasons.
Firstly, I want the cards to be as boring looking as
possible. I don’t want to bring too much of my spectator’s
attention to them, and when something looks nice or
interesting, people look at it more. The focus here should
be on the reading and everything else I am doing. I want
my spectators to leave feeling as though the cards didn’t
really have much importance in the reading.
Secondly, there is enough extra space on the card for me
to write extra things on it, should I want or need to.
Sometimes people wish to keep the card with their sign on
it and I often let them. The extra space leaves room for
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] me to write any interesting things that seemed to ‘hit’
during the reading. By writing it on the card, it helps your
spectator to remember some of the incredible things you
may have mentioned.
I also keep the cards simple as when I give one away, I
have to write a new one to keep the set complete. The
simplicity allows me to very quickly and easily make a
new card that is consistent with the rest of them.
Before we look at the little details, let’s take a look at the
main method for discovering your spectator’s sign.
The ‘linked sign’ on one card is the ‘main
sign’ on the card that came before it!
So in the simplest handling, this is how you could do it. It
is important to note that the cards are stacked;
You cut the stack a few times, appearing as though you
are shuffling them when in fact, simply cutting the stack
any number of times will keep them in their cyclical
order.
Instruct your spectator to spread through the cards, find
their sign and cut it to the face (demonstrate with the
cards). They then put the entire stack face down on the
table.
Now if you were to pick up that top card and have a look,
the ‘linked sign’ in the bottom corner of it will be your
spectator’s sign!

[email protected] EXAMPLE:
Spectator chooses gemini and leaves it on the bottom of
the stack.

Top card is picked up, the sign can easily be covered with
your thumb so your spectator doesn’t recognise it.
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons [email protected]
When you’re ready, you can get your peek by moving
your thumb;
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] So what else is going on here? First, let’s take a look at
the numbers in the top left.
Each card will have a month number that your spectator
was most likely born in, followed by the card number to
help you re-stack the cards, should they ever become
genuinely mixed.
In the above example (third photo) we see 610.
I am peeking a gemini, and the dates for gemini are:
May 21 - June 20.
So most gemini days take place in the 6th month (June).
Remember that there is always a chance that they were
born in the final days of the previous month also.
You can ask your spectator, “Were you born towards the
end of the month?”and if they say no, that firmly lands
them in the month on the card.
If they say yes, there is a slight chance they may have
been born in the previous month to what is on the card.
For example, my sign is scorpio (October 23 - November
21) but I was born on the 25th of October. So although
most scorpio days take place in November, the 11th
month, I was born in the 10th.
So a yes to the above question means you just have to be
careful before revealing the month (more on this later).
The numbers on the cards can also be given any meaning
you want during the reading, should you decide to
mention them, from simple lucky numbers to the
numerological coding of the energetic imprint of their
sign. I made that up, but in doing so, it means I can say
anything about it and nobody can correct me.
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] The letters come from this:
You can search the internet for ‘Numerology letters’ and
find the same.
In my Scorpion system, I’ve kept things simple. I do not
try and use the letters for genuine numerology, nor do I
try and link them in some way to the astrological signs, I
simply tell my spectator they are letters associated with
their sign (if they ask) and personally I use the letters that
I see on my ‘peek’ card to prompt me with symbols to use
as content for my reading.
The letters only went as far as the 9th card, so for the
remaining 3 cards I added my own;
SOL, MUN & STR (almost like sun, moon and star).
So for example, in the above photo I see the letters SOL
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] on my peek card. I immediately think of 3 symbols that
begin with those letters e.g. Snake, Owl, Lemon (first
things that came to mind, different each time).
I then speak about those symbols metaphorically to
generate content for the reading. I think about the qualities
of those things and relate them to my spectator, in a way
that doesn’t seem obvious. I don’t talk about them being a
bright yellow fruit, I might say that they always appear to
radiate a positive, uplifting energy towards people around
them, but it only takes one bite, one person to get in their
way before feelings of anger or resentment appear to
show. (Nice on the outside, bitter on the inside, but not
negative, bad or harmful in any way) I could go on but
I’m sure you don’t need further examples or explanation.
***I know in a previous release, Pythia, I had a rant at
using alphabet systems for readings, and I still avoid them,
but as Scorpion is a systematic system, I feel it fits well
here. In Astrology you are mostly reading a person’s sign,
not a person. If I put 100 geminis in one room who all
believe in Astrology, I should be able to give one reading
that will resonate with all of them on some level, as I am
reading the archetypal gemini, and not the individual
people. If I read for 5 different geminis in one night, their
gemini readings should be somewhat similar.***
The elements are an easy one.
Cards 1-3 are FIRE
Cards 4-6 are EARTH
Cards 7-9 are AIR
Cards 10-12 are WATER
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] When you lift or peek the top card, you can see what
number that card is, so you will also know your
spectator’s card number. In the photos above, the card I
peek is number 10, meaning my spectator’s card is 9, an
Air sign.
To be honest, in performance I’m too busy peeking the
sign and looking at the letters for my reading. I don’t
often use the element until after I have revealed the sign
and the whole stack can be turned face up, then I can look
at the card openly and freely to get the element and
anything else.
The same goes for everything on the card, if you don’t
like it, lose it or change it! For me the most important
pieces of information are the ‘linked signs’ where I get my
peek, and the letters. I like to have something small in all
4 corners though as it looks like more arcane information
that you can interpret, and means you can cover your peek
naturally when you turn the top card face up.
Here is the information you will need for each card (in
order). Be careful not to make any mistakes with the order
of the signs if you decide to change anything. I have laid
them out as follows:

HOW
So I proceed with the simple presentation as above;
Cards are apparently mixed.
Spectator is instructed to spread through the cards, cut
their one to the face (whilst physically demonstrating this
to them with the cards) then place the entire stack face
down on the table. “Just for fun” they are instructed to
not show me or tell me what their sign is just yet.
I say, “Now you may have noticed these cards have some
more information on them too, for example…
*and I pick up the top card, covering the sign in the bottom corner*
…there are numbers, letters, an element and so on. We will
get to what these mean soon but for now, just focus on…”
In telling my spectator about the extra information on the
cards, I have an excuse to pick a card up to demonstrate
with. When I do this, I am looking at all of the
information I wish to use, then turning the card slightly
out of view of the spectator for a second, I peek the sign
under my thumb.
Please note: It is no secret that the cards have signs in the
bottom corners, but just as a precaution I like to casually
hide the one that reveals their sign when I pick up that top
card.
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons [email protected]
If I am going for a straight reveal, I have them focus on
their sign. For presentation, I might say, “Imagine all of
the constellations in the sky passing by us as the earth
rotates. Imagine going back in time through the days,
weeks, months, years of your life very quickly, and as you
do that, the constellations will spin through the sky. The
faster you can wind back the clock of your own life, the
faster the constellations will move. Do that for me now,
try and imagine what that would look like. Go back as far
as you can remember and allow the constellations to
continue to spin, faster and faster. Mentally go right back
to the day you were born and in a flash of light, the
constellations stop moving and only one in particular sits
in the sky above you, watching over you as you made
your entrance into this world.”
How special does that feel! I then go on to sense what
constellation was in the sky at the time of their birth,
revealing their sign.
Sometimes I will do my reveal by month instead. “First
focus on the month you were born in, and think about
what kind of things happen around that time of year. Tell
me, were you born towards the very end of the month?”
By saying “towards the very end…” sometimes they say
“well, not the very end” then I know it is pretty safe to
assume they’re in the month I peeked. If they say no in
answer to my question, I know I am definitely on the right
month.
If they say yes, or if in some way I find myself torn
between two months, I simply think about that time of
year and begin to describe what I am ‘feeling’. This could
be the weather, season, holidays, whatever. I can then say,
“I feel you were born in October or November?” I say it
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] like a statement but ask it like a question, they usually
respond with the correct month. I can immediately jump in
and say, “Oh so you’re a scorpio?!” as though I would
know that from knowing the month.
Of course if I had all the signs and dates memorised, I
would know that anyway without having to peek, but I
don’t have the dates memorised and I don’t pretend to (in
front of other mentalists at least).
So even though the reveal doesn’t seem as strong, I was
still able to sense the time of year they were born, and
sometimes that can be stronger. Then it looked like I knew
more about Astrology by instantly identifying their sign
after hearing their birth month.
Before or after the reveal of the sign I have my letters that
I could use to give a reading. Often I find myself
intuitively reading my spectator before the reveal (as in
my ebook Pythia) and then using the letters to continue
the reading afterwards.
I prefer to link symbols to the letters rather than
keywords, I find it gives me much more to talk about, I
also often fall back on my Metaphysical Alphabet which
can be found in previous releases of mine.
It is very easy to interpret pretty much anything, and gets
even easier with practice. One useful trick is to start
talking immediately, and allow your interpretation to
unfold as you speak, rather than trying to think of what to
say first. By doing this, it is very likely that you will slip
into what is known as a ‘flow state’, in which the words
appear to just flow out of your mouth effortlessly, full of
useful or interesting content.
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] For example, yesterday I did a massive impromptu,
gaffless Q&A act, by simply getting up there and talking
immediately. I produce words before I begin to think, so
maybe the first few things I do say aren’t great, but this
does encourage the onset of a flow state; it gets the ball
rolling and forces your mind to work quicker and with less
effort. Within minutes I was effortlessly pouring out
fantastic information, ‘machine gun’ style readings and
incredible hits, all because I didn’t consciously think or
speak, I just did what could be described as automatic
speaking.
LINKED SIGNS
Most people know that astrological signs have various
connections to other signs. In this case, if I happen to
mention the ‘linked sign’ on the spectator’s card, I simply
speak as though people of this sign tend to take an
automatic liking to people of the main sign. I don’t speak
of it in a sort of ‘soulmate’ kind of way, I simply talk
about them having slightly more influence over, and
automatic connection with people of that linked sign. This
is what I call ‘cosmological chemistry’, again, another bit
of nonsense I made up, but it allows me to say whatever I
want about that supposed linked sign.
Of course it is useful to know some genuine basics of
Astrology, but do not be worried about making things up,
after-all, it’s all made up anyway. Everything you read
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons [email protected]
about Astrology has been invented by someone,
somewhere, it’s just that a lot of made up things are
commonly accepted by a wide range of people. Simply
speak with authority and confidence and no one will
question your knowledge on the subject.
There have been many times when I have pointed out the
linked sign (on the spectator’s main, chosen card) and they
have immediately responded with something like, “Oh,
that’s my mother’s sign!” or “That’s my partner’s sign!”
even though the only genuine connection between the
signs is the fact that they’re only there to allow us to do
some sneakies!
ELEMENTS
What can you say about the elements? Should you decide
to use them, it is pretty simple.
Fire signs, what comes to mind when you think of fire?
Strong emotion, enthusiasm, passion, temper, achievement,
ability to create or destroy.
What about water?
Refreshing, charming, mysterious, private, sensitive,
emotional, deep, flowing, journey, communication.
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons [email protected]
Earth?
Dependable, stable, grounded, reliable, materialistic, loyal,
practical.
Air?
Powerful, creative, fun, ideas, adventure, change,
excitement.
It is very easy to talk about the characteristics of the
physical elements in such a way that it sounds like you are
describing the behaviour or personality of a person.
END
So there you have it! My extremely simple but incredibly
effective Scorpion system! I used to call it “my Astrology
card thing” but only gave it a name after rediscovering its
usefulness in performances and readings here at a place
called Scorpios.
I know there are many ways to proplessly reveal a star
sign, but they mostly involve a process that I am not a fan
of. I would rather there be no process, and just an
apparently intuitive reveal, followed by a reading.
Also, you never know what connections or contacts you
will be about to make with people by sharing a special
moment with them; a mystery followed by a reading, then
leaving them with your business card as a part of the
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons [email protected]
experience, and not an after-attempt to give them your
information.
Recent real life example; just last night I performed this
with someone who was so impressed with their interaction
with me, and all I did was the basic Scorpion system
routine (a reveal and a reading), that we ended up talking
for a while about it afterwards. They were excited to keep
my card and after giving me a hug, they left with a huge
smile on their face. It wasn’t until afterwards that I found
out just how influential this person is, and with a single
phone call they could have me on another all expenses
paid trip to another part of the world to do even more
large scale performances. We have spoken since via
whatsapp, and now I have a valuable new contact and an
established connection. Boom pow.

[email protected] BONUS
Here is something that I have used from time to time that
feels like an unplanned moment of synchronicity between
your spectator and the stars above. I call it;
STARSEED
After asking your spectator if they believe that the stars
above can influence or effect our behaviour here on earth,
you propose an experiment. Giving up all conscious
control of their actions, they hold some business cards and
a pen behind their back, and with their non dominant
hand, they begin to draw on the card, allowing their hand
to move naturally and automatically.
After a close analysis of their automatic drawing, it is
revealed that they have in fact drawn the constellation of
their own astrological sign!
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons [email protected]
METHOD
I used to do this with all 12 astrological signs, but I
wasn’t performing it all the time and I don’t think you
will either. To make things simpler, I narrowed it down to
just 3 signs; Capricorn, Pisces and Scorpio. I now perform
this routine if a spectator happens to be one of the above
signs.
I will simply ask them, “what’s your star sign?” and if
they happen to be one of the above, I will move in to this
routine.
Of course you can discover their sign via any method you
wish.
10 cards sit in my business card case. The top 3 of them
have the constellations (star patterns) for the above signs
drawn on them; one on each card. I have chosen the above
signs as their star patterns or constellations are simple
enough to have been realistically drawn by a person using
their non dominant hand, behind their back.
Some, Sagittarius for example, are too complex to look
like they could be drawn naturally.
When preparing my cards with the patterns, I draw them
as though they have been done in one go, without the pen
leaving the paper. I keep them slightly sloppy too.
After discovering my spectator’s sign, if it is one of the
above I simply remove my business cards, and as I am
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons [email protected]
talking I take the necessary amount of cards away from
the top of the stack to leave the one that contains my
spectator’s star pattern on the top. E.g.
Capricorn - I don’t move any cards (it’s already on top)
Pisces - I move one card from the top and bury it in the
middle, as Pisces was second from the top.
Scorpio - I move two cards from the top and bury them in
the middle of the stack.
You should be left with the card that contains your
spectator’s sign pattern face down, on top of the stack.
After explaining what I want them to do (more on this in
a moment) I take one normal business card, with nothing
written on it and place it face up on top.
They take the whole stack and the pen behind their back
and begin to draw.
You take the pen back as your spectator turns their card
face down behind their back before bringing the entire
stack in front of them.
Now all that is left for you to do is one second deal. This
will leave your spectator’s real drawing on the stack, and
your pre-drawn card being dealt onto the table.
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] Performance and reveal
“What is your star sign? Pisces? Great. Do you believe
that the stars above can influence our behaviour here on
earth? I have an interesting thing I wish to try with you. It
is called automatic drawing. Simply take these cards
behind your back, and with your non dominant hand,
touch the pen to the card and slowly begin to draw
something. Now by drawing behind your back and using
your non dominant hand, you will lose all control or
awareness of what you are drawing. Don’t try and draw
anything either, just allow the pen to move. This whole
process is to eliminate conscious thought or effort, and
allows your subconscious mind to speak for itself. Do that
now.”
They begin drawing, and after a moment or two, you stop
them. You do not want to let them draw for too long as
the star patterns are extremely simple. After stopping them
from drawing, you continue;
“Now before we look at what you’ve drawn, flip that card
over so you can bring the cards back in front of you
without any of us seeing your drawing.”
You then take the stack of cards from them and do a
second deal as you say;
“Hopefully I will be able to take a look at what you’ve
drawn and interpret it in some way, to see what it says
about you.”
If you’ve dealt the card onto a table or your spectator’s
hand, ask them to turn the card over and show you the
drawing. From here you can do a simple reading using
techniques outlined in this book or any of the other
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] million books on readings (just speak what comes to mind,
or use some randomly thought of letters to generate
symbols.
You continue;
“Actually, maybe the stars above have influenced you
today. I’m not sure, but your drawing kind of looks like…
Go on google images and search for Pisces constellation.”
Already they will be reacting.
I like this unexpected style of reveal. It looks like you
didn’t know this would happen ahead of time, and have
just now realised. It is much, much stronger to ask them to
google what you think the drawing looks like than to have
a prediction or something with you in which you can
easily show them the star pattern.
Having them draw behind their back with their non
dominant hand isn’t really to allow their subconscious to
speak, it is to make sure they have no clue what their
drawing will end up looking like, then when it is swapped
for your pre-drawn card via the second deal, they won’t
know that that isn’t what they drew.
Of course there are many ways to achieve this, but the
second deal is the most straight forward.
Just to quickly recap:
You are holding a stack of face down business cards, with
the constellation pattern of your spectator’s astrological
sign drawn on the face of the top card.
You take a blank card and leave it face up on top of the
Generated for #20623 Thomas Gibbons
[email protected] face down stack.
Spectator takes the whole stack and a pen behind their
back and begins to draw.
After stopping them, you take the pen and instruct them to
turn over the card they have just drawn on, and bring the
cards out from behind their back.
This will leave a stack of face down cards with the top
card being the one your spectator drew on, and
immediately under that will be the card you have pre-
drawn.
From here as you are talking, do a second deal (or a
double lift).
This will leave your card in play, and the spectator’s
actual drawing will remain unseen.
Take your time before the reveal. Let them think the
reading is over before saying, “Actually… That kind of
looks like…”
Simple, effective and a little different from other
mentalism routines.
All 12 constellations are easy to find online, but just to be
complete I have included them on the next page.
Obviously don’t draw the stars, just the line patterns!

[email protected] END
I hope you like this system and the little bonus routine at
the end.
Since I’ve been here in Mykonos, I’ve used it constantly,
and I absolutely cannot remember why I stopped using it
in the first place, but I’m so glad I have it, and the fact
that it requires no effort to use is even better!
