Since 2006, I’ve perhaps viewed over fifty flats for rent in
several European countries. I continue to be shocked by
the sheer incompetence of landlords to make their
properties stand out to tenants.
Novi Sad, in Serbia, is a very specific, and difficult city for
renters. It is a ‘true’ student city and students have taken
over the rental market. Flats are also relatively cheap to
rent in Serbia, which means that landlords have little
incentive to renovate their properties. However, there will
always be high-earners or foreigners willing to pay two
hundred and fifty to four hundred euros for a decent, well-
furnished flat, and that is why landlords should focus on
improving the state of their properties

Research shows that people who are basically explorers
and entertainers, do not care much about finishing their
work before enjoying themselves. They like to live one day
at a time, and impulsively follow where their heart leads.
They believe in living in the moment.
People who are diplomats, analysts, logicians and
mediators, tend to strike a balance between work and
play, with a slight inclination towards work than play.
People who are sentinels are definitely the ‘ant’ type,
working very hard now, so that they can enjoy the fruits of
their work later. They are very strict about themselves and
their work, and do not have a carefree attitude to anything
in life. They are likely to be successful in the long run, but
may seem to have a ‘dull’ life.

How are you? I’m fine. I’m at home, of course, because of
lockdown. I started my engineering course at Manchester University
last year, but I’m not there now. I went to Manchester in October
and I stayed in the student accommodation. We had lectures in the
lecture rooms for three weeks, but after that, we had to stay in our
accommodation because of Covid-19. I studied by computer. I
wanted to go out to bars and join a basketball team, but I couldn’t.
Luckily, there were some cool students in my accommodation. I
made some good friends and we had cool parties.
But now I’m at home. I’m still studying by computer. I have four
hours of lectures every day and then I work on projects. Actually,
it’s quite good. We can do a lot of things by computer. I use
different software programmes, read articles, and have discussions
with the other students. I enjoy those discussions because I’m alone
most of the time. Dad and mum are both at work all day. I can’t
leave my town or visit friends, so I work! I work much harder than I

sea and sun all day, and every evening, my friends and I
had a barbecue on the beach. The surf school asked me to
return this summer, but I’m not going to do that. Last
autumn, I learned to scuba dive, and I’m going to do a
diving instructor course soon. Then, I plan to teach diving
all summer to earn some money. I don’t want to stay in the

Scotland, from Land’s End to John o’Groats. It’s an 874-
mile trip! It takes ten to fourteen days. But I’m not a fast
cyclist, and I want to enjoy visiting different places, so we
plan to ride for four weeks. We will visit historic cities like
Bath and Edinburgh, cycle through the pretty countryside
and visit museums and castles on the way. Alfie wanted to
camp, but I’d like a comfortable bed at the end of each
day, so we are going to stay in guest houses. I hope it
doesn’t rain a lot, but I hope it’s not too hot either!

I remember my first day at school very well. I knew the
school quite well because my older sister, Sandy, went
there and every day, dad and I met her at the school gate
after school. Every day, she ran out of the school with her
friends. She often carried a painting. I felt jealous. I
wanted to paint too!
I was five years old when I started school. Most children in
my class started school in September, but I started school
in January, when I was five years old, because my birthday
is in December. Three other kids started school on the
same day as me. I was excited about my first day. I had my
new uniform: a black skirt, a white t-shirt and green jumper,
and a new red bag. When we arrived that day, a teacher
met the new children at the school gate. Dad hugged me
and said goodbye. I stood with the other children. I didn’t
talk to them because I was too nervous. Then, Mrs Wilson
took us to our classroom. All the other children were
already there. They looked at us when we entered the
room. When thirty children looked at me, I started to cry!

apartment buildings. The streets are very clean, and there
aren’t many cars. My school is near my house. I can walk
there in 10 minutes.
There’s also a park, which has a small playground for
children and a large field. I like to play baseball there with
my friends after school. All of the houses have a small front
yard but big back yards. Most of my neighbors have a
swimming pool, and some even have a trampoline!
Everyone has a flower garden, and in the spring, it is very
beautiful. My road is called Maple Road. It is not in the city.
It’s in the suburbs. There aren’t any restaurants, bars or
cinemas on my road. But, if you go to Main street, you can
find a lot of things to do. My favorite store is there. It’s
called Knick-Knack, and they sell everything you can
imagine.
