The mental health of young Filipinos is increasingly concerning, with many students facing sadness and other issues due to societal pressures and personal challenges. There is a need for greater awareness, support, and resources in schools to address these mental health problems, alongside efforts to combat the stigma surrounding mental illness. Advocating for change, providing safe spaces for discussion, and increasing funding for mental health services are essential steps to improve the situation for Filipino learners.

It Matters

The mental health of young Filipinos is becoming a bigger worry. A lot of students have
sadness and other mental health problems in school. Time constraints, societal expectations, and
personal difficulties are all making this more likely.

Students should know what happens when you don't take care of your mental health and be
able to help others who are in trouble by doing more study. In the Philippines, there are a lot of
depressed learners who are having trouble in school and in their daily lives. For example, balancing
academic success with family standards and figuring out how to get through these uncertain times
can be hard for some people in adolescence and early adulthood, which can have an effect on their
mental health.

Because of the shame surrounding mental health in the Philippines, it is also harder for
students to get help and support. It's important for students like me to speak out and push for
change because I've seen how it hurts my friends' mental health. Filipino learners' mental health
should be a big deal in school, and kids who need it should be given the tools and one-on-one help
they need. Starting treatment and other mental health services and showing teachers and students
how important mental health is are all parts of this initiative.

They also need to do more to fight the social shame that comes with having a mental illness
in the Philippines. We can do this by making sure kids have safe places to talk about their problems
without worrying about being judged or criticized, by encouraging kindness and understanding,
and by having honest conversations about mental health.

Speakers of the House and Senate of Representatives should give more funds and resources
to school mental health services. Part of this plan is to make the school a positive and welcoming
place by giving mental health professionals access to teachers and staff. Learners need more help
from their parents and other family members to keep their minds healthy. As a home is a friendly
and supportive space, learners feel more at ease asking for help and talking about personal issues
with people they care about.

Additionally, the main reason why Filipino students' mental health is so bad needs to be
fixed right away. To make the school a better place for all Filipino students, it might help to spread
information, fight stereotypes, and push for growth. It should be very important for learners to take
care of their mental health, and they should have all the tools and help they need to do this.
