A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 7 – MATHEMATICS

I. OBJECTIVE
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
a. Define integers and understand their classifications (positive, negative, zero).
b. Illustrate integers on a number line.
c. solve problems involving Addition and Subtraction of Integers.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
a. Topic: Adding and Subtracting Integers
b. Reference/s: E-MATH 7 Edition (2024) by. Orlando A. Oronce pp.243-253
c. Material/s: Visual aids, Instructional manipulative – “Board Chips”, Whiteboard
marker, eraser, Worksheets
III. PROCEDURE
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
a. Prayer
 Good morning class!  Good morning ma’am!
 Before we start may we all stand up
for a prayer. Student A please led the
prayer.  (Student A leads the prayer.)
b. Classroom management
 Ok class before you sit down please
pick up some trashes and pieces of  (Students will pick up some trashes
papers. and pieces of papers.)
c. Greetings
 Good morning once again.
 So how was your day?  Good morning ma’am.
 Well, good then.  (Different responses.)
d. Checking of attendance
 Are there any absents today?
 Very good!  None ma’am.
e. Setting of Class Rules
 Let’s quickly review our classroom
rules, summarized as A.I.M.:
 A: Attention
 I: Interaction
 M: Mutual Respect"

"Are our classroom rules clear?"  Yes ma’am

f. Engagement Activity
 battery
I have a picture on the screen. Can
anyone guess what it is?

Yes, that’s correct! It’s a battery.

 Students listen attentively
Batteries have positive and negative
signs, just like numbers in mathematics.

Today, we will learn about positive and  Nod in understanding

negative numbers, also known as
integers. Specifically, we will focus on
addition and subtraction of integers.

B. ANALYSIS

Presentation of Learning Objectives:

Our learning objectives for today are:
1. Define integers
2. Illustrate integers on the
number line.  Listen attentively
3. Solve problems involving
addition and subtraction of integers.

Real-Life Application:

I have nine dollars here. If Crystal

borrows six dollars from me, how much  Yes, that’s right! Nine minus six
do I have left?"
equals three dollars.
9-3=3
Now, what if Crystal borrows fifteen
dollars from me? Is my 9 dollars enough?

Correct, it’s not enough. I need six more

dollars.

9-15=-6

Definition of Integers: Can anyone

share their ideas about what integers
are?
 Integers are positive and negative
Yes, that’s a good definition! Integers are numbers.
whole numbers that can be positive,
negative, or zero, but not fractions.

Number Line Illustration: Let’s illustrate

integers on a number line.
 Observe and participate

Zero is in the center. Positive integers are

on the right, and negative integers are on
the left.

Remember, if there’s no sign, it’s

understood to be positive.

C. ABSTRACTION

Review of Arithmetic Operations:

What are the four fundamental arithmetic
 Addition, subtraction, multiplication,
operations?
and division

Addition of Integers: When adding

integers with the same sign, we simply
 Listen and take notes.
add the numbers and keep the sign.

For different signs, we subtract the

smaller absolute value from the larger
absolute value and keep the sign of the
number with the larger absolute value.

(Answer practice questions.)

Subtraction of Integers: To subtract, we
change the subtraction to addition and
change the sign of the second integer.  Observe and participate

D. APPLICATION
Worksheet Activity:
I will give you a worksheet with problems
on adding and subtracting integers. You
have five minutes to complete it.  Answer the worksheet.

If you have questions, please raise your

hand.  Ask for clarification if needed.

Review Worksheet Answers: Let’s go

over the answers together.  Review and discuss answers

IV. EVALUATION
 Answer additional exercises on the worksheet.
 Call volunteers to solve on the board.
V. ASSIGNMENT
Answer practice problems on multiplying and dividing integers.
