 At the end of this module, I can

explore the principle of

interactivity and rich content in
the context of Web 2.0 and the
participation of the user in the
online experience.
EMBEDDED MULTIMEDIA

 MULTIMEDIA – is defined
as the mixture of different
content forms such as texts,
music, photos or images,
interactive content,
animations, or videos.
 Multimedia is also referred to as
rich content because of its
abundance of variation in
presenting information.
 It can stimulate the different
senses because you can see, hear,
listen, and interact with it.
 Multimedia applications target the
satisfaction of the audience.
 User experience is used to
evaluate the effectiveness of a
product to consumers.
 It is defined as the behaviors shown
(either good or bad) by the person
or individual who uses the
application or product.
 It can be evaluated by the emotions
that an individual has while using the
product.
BIG IDEA!
 Multimedia is a combination of
different context forms such as
videos, images, or text, which
makes a Website or offline
application effective and
attention-grabbing.
CATEGORIES OF MULTIMEDIA
Multimedia can be categorized by the manner of interaction with the
viewers or audience toward it. These two categories are linear and
nonlinear.
1. LINEAR – This is a multimedia type wherein the creator
predetermines the flow of the content. The progression of this is the
multimedia type that uses navigation components to provide the users
freedom to move around the application is straightforward, like a video
clip.
2. Nonlinear – on and seek the information they want. Normally, this type
of multimedia prioritizes interactivity with the audience.
TYPES OF
MULTIMEDIA
1. MULTIMEDIA GAMES
AND SIMULATIONS

 Information is presented
to the audience by
imitating a real-life
information source into
its digital environment
equivalent. Then the
users can freely explore
the environment to
search for the
information they need.
2. MULTIMEDIA
PRESENTATION

 The information is
navigated in a
sequence of
slideshows and
uses an application
player. Common
types are video
clips, audio clips,
and audio-visual
slideshows.
3. MULTIMEDIA
NAVIGATION

 This type of
multimedia uses
different graphical
elements and is
linked to different
pages. Also, different
Web elements such
as buttons and text
links are
incorporated.
APPLICATIONS OF
EMBEDDED MULTIMEDIA
THE EFFICIENCY IN SPREADING INFORMATION THROUGH EMBEDDED MULTIMEDIA FINDS ITS WAY INTO DIFFERENT
FIELDS OF APPLICATION. COMMON FIELDS THAT USE MULTIMEDIA ARE PRESENTED HERE.
1. ENTERTAINMENT
 To understand modern multimedia
entertainment applications a definition of
both entertainment and multimedia
notions is needed. Entertainment is
something diverting or engaging, i.e.
a public performance, a usually light
comic, or an adventure novel.
Multimedia means using, involving, or
encompassing several media.
2. EDUCATION
 The use of video, audio, graphics, and
animations can help to break up text-
heavy content and can make learning
more interesting and memorable
when employees need to retain
important information. Multimedia
also ensures learning is
accessible to a diverse range of
learners.
3. COMMUNICATION
 Multimedia communication deals
with the transfer, protocols,
services, and mechanisms of
discrete media data (such as text
and graphics) and continuous
media data (like audio and video)
in/over digital networks.
4. INTERNET

 The Internet is a vast network that

connects computers all over the world.
Through the Internet, people can share
information and communicate from
anywhere with an Internet connection.
5. JOURNALISM

 Today's multimedia journalism blends

various media, including print and
digital media (such as online
publications and websites), as well as
television, film, photojournalism, and
radio—any platform that helps
journalists tell their stories.
