I. INTRODUCTION
Nature and Background of the study
Beshe’s Egg Farm is a small scale egg production that presents
an opportunity to the proponents to engage in a profiting venture.
The venture will add additional income to proponents while
waiting for harvest season to come by. The egg farm has a high
chance of expansion, given that neighbouring barangays can also
be a potential market in the future. This business targets the
stores within the barangay of Osukan, Labason, Zamboanga del
Norte. It will supply the demand of eggs in the barangay. The aim
is to be the sole supplier of eggs for targeted stores. The egg
farm will also supply the eggs to a food house located in the
barangay near the Compaq station as well as the Butalid
Bakeshop of Osukan. The eggs will be sold per tray. The
promotion of business will focus more on word of mouth since it’s
an effective way of establishing the name of the business in rural
areas. Flyers are also considered. Currently no egg farm is
present in the vicinity so there is less competition in the market.
Objectives
o Income generation for both Beshe’s Farm and its
employees
o Provision of poultry products to the people of Labason,
Zamboanga Del Norte through distribution in the available
intermediaries in Labason
o Reduce the economic expenditure of the consumers by
producing affordable poultry products
History
Agriculture plays a significant role in Philippine economy. The
Agriculture industry, which shared 84.0 percent in the total AHFF
(Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing), grew by 0.2 percent
in the second quarter of 2018 compared with the 8.0 percent
growth in the comparable period of 2017. Contributors to the
growth in Agriculture were: Poultry 5.1 percent; Agricultural
activities and services, 4.3 percent; Livestock, 1.8 percent;
Banana, 3.7 percent; Coconut including copra, 4.0 percent;
Pineapple, 3.3 percent; Rubber, 2.9 percent; and Other Crops,
0.1 percent (2nd quarter 2018, psa.gov.ph). Layer poultry
farming means raising egg laying poultry birds for the purpose of
commercial egg production. Layer chickens are such a special
species of hens, which need to be raised from they are one day
old. They start laying eggs commercially from 18-19 weeks of
age. They remain laying eggs continuously till their 72-78 weeks
of age. They can produce about one kilogram of egg by
continuously consuming about 2.25kg of food during egg laying
period (growelagrovet.com). Layer egg farming can be done in a
backyard which requires little space and maintenance. Layer egg
business provides eggs to customers like sari-sari store, grocery
stores, food house and catering services, and etc. this kind of
business also requires a small amount of capital as initial
investment compared to other business ventures. Statistical data
shows that there is an opportunity in poultry business being the
top contributor of growth in Agriculture industry. It indicates
demand for the commodity as a result of the growing industry
that needs the product as their input. Thus, this study was
conducted to measure the opportunity small poultry farmers to
expand their business.

PORTER’S FIVE FORCES MODEL
Competition in the Industry.
Competition in the Egg Production Business is high since
it doesn’t need much capital to engage in the business.
It is also a highly profitable business venture anyone will
likely have to engage in this kind of business.
New Entrants Threat in Industry.
Filipinos are very well known of the “Gaya-gaya
Attitude”, and Egg production business is one of the
businesses that anyone could easily copy.
Threat of Existing Substitute. The threat of
substitution is low since there is no existing substitute
for eggs
Power of Suppliers.
Presently, there is no Poultry or Egg Farm in the target
location which means that Beshe’s Products will be
profitable.
Power of Customers.
Egg is essential and it is one of the common foods we
prepare for breakfast. There are many buyers in the
target market as well as in the neighboring barangay
and municipality.
MICRO ENVIRONMENT
Personal- Personal risks arise from events affecting the
personal lives of the employees which may in turn affect
the operation of the business which may include
catastrophic events such as fire, flood or death. It can also
include variation of goals and objectives between and
among workers. In the first instance of fire, flood and
death the business organization has planned to register all
its works to the insurance services, in order to minimize or
even obliterate some risks that might be faced in that
regard. Establishing a common understanding of the
business goals among partners in order to control such
risks.
Production - Poultry farming has sensitive risks to weather
conditions that are in the farming environment e.g.
sunlight, rainfall, temperature, and others can include
insects’ diseases and pests. In regards with this matter
Beshe’s Egg farm will grow disease resistant varieties of
poultry that can absorb and sustain the shock of infections.
The business will use preventive means of insect and
predator control such as nets to protect the chickens.
Financial - Most risk that is related to finance result from
inadequate cash flow to meet obligations which may in
turn cause shut-down of the business. It may be caused by
high or mortgage payments or as a result of personal or
production problems. To control and manage Financial
Risks, the proponents must acquire tools and equipment of
simple cost, avoid buying things until when need arises
and profit earned will be used for additional investment.
BCG MATRIX
III. MARKET STUDY
A. MARKET DESCRIPTION
Beshe’s Egg Farm products will be priced at affordable
rate. When a mark-up is placed on any of our products,
customers will be willing to pay because of the affordable
price. The venture to be established is a poultry farm that
will concentrate on the production of eggs and sales of
matured chicken and chicken manure, because of the fund
required the venture will start as a small scale business
having the population of the whole municipality of Labason
,and neighboring barangays are target market. The farm
site will be a permanent land and will need necessary
equipment for its operation as it is entirely new firm to
start from the scratch, will have to be acquired. The market
of this business will be the stores in Labason Municipality
The target was determined since the project area will be in
Osukan, Labason, Z.N. where there is no Egg Farm
existing. Aside from the stores around the area, the
business will connect to the Butalid Bakeshop along the
Compaq Station. The demand for egg in this business is
currently high since eggs have always been an ingredient
for snacks and dishes. Basically Beshe’s Egg Farm will raise
chicken for adult chicken and egg production for the
residents of Barangay Osukan, as well as the neighboring
Barangay or the entire municipality of Labason with more
or less 43, 934 people according to the 2020 Census.
B. Target Market
Basically Beshe’s Egg Farm will raise chicken for adult
chicken and egg production for the residents of Barangay
Osukan, as well as the neighboring Barangay or the entire
municipality of Labason with more or less 43, 934 people
according to the 2020 Census.
C. DEMAND
The demand for egg in this business is currently high
since eggs have always been an ingredient for snacks
and dishes. Egg is a commodity that is always present in
every home, the demand for its consumption will never
cease. Store owner in the barangay always stock egg
since there is always a need for eggs. The snack house
on the other needs a constant and reliable supply of eggs
for their business operation. The school canteen around
the barangay can also be a potential market as well as
other school canteens in the nearby barangays. Aside
from that there are also stores that can be a potential
market. Individual households in the barangay can also
be a potential consumer of the product.
Reseller and consumer markets in Labason, Zamboanga
Del Norte are in high demand of poultry products
especially eggs and chicken meat. The industrial market
and the rapid increase in the population of the
community and the entrance of more retailers are
opportunities that will support the future development of
the business.
D.COMPETITOR’S PROFILE
Currently there are no egg farms within the vicinity of the
barangay, so no tough competitors are identified. Store
owners are buying their supply of eggs in the town, so if
the egg farm is established challenges from competitors
are minimal.
E. PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES
Below are the promotional activities to be employed by
the business:
Internet marketing: developing a business website
and get in touch with details with online directories.
Make use of traditional print ads for posters, flyers
and stickers to be used for transit advertisement
Tap the local radio station for radio advertisement
Personal selling
F. BRANDING
The name of the business will be Beshe’s Egg Farm. The
business will be highlighting the production of eggs
through egg laying chickens. This kind of business was
conceptualized since egg is a commodity that is present
in every home. Egg is an easy to prepare food that is
very common for students and working parents. It is also
given that eggs has a variety of ways to cook and even
used as ingredients for other Filipino loved dishes
Logo
Tagline: Quality is Everything.
The logo has been chosen as it expresses how we care
our consumers. We care just like how bestfriends care for
each other. And because we care, we make sure that
what we give is the best among the rest. That is why we
are so conscious and considerate of the quality that we
will be producing, because quality is everything.
G.PRICE ANALYSIS
Based on the information gathered, there are several
existing suppliers of eggs but not in the target location.
They are from neighboring municipality, which are selling
eggs higher than the price of Beshe’s Egg Farm.
H. PRICING
The product will be sold at every store targeted at
Php.143.00 – 165 per tray of eggs depending on their size.
Egg Competitors’ Beshe’s Selling Price

Small Php180.00 per tray Php160.00 per tray

Large Php200.00 per tray Php190.00 per tray
Extra- Php220.00 per tray Php200.00 per tray

• Adult chicken
Adult chicken will be sold at php150.00 per kilo. This
will be very reasonable for consumers. As of the
competitors, the chicken that are grown for selling are
sold at php190.00 per kilo and some would sell native
chickens at php180.00 per kilo.
• Chicken Manure
Chicken manure from the poultry farm will be sold to
farmers at php60.00 per bag. Although there are
industrial fertilizers that are cheaper than that price, it is
reasonable because chicken manure is organic and is
more favorable for plants.

feeders for chicken
The flock will be supplied with feeders so
that waste can be minimized, food is
kept clean and fresh and we can monitor
how much they eat. It also keeps the
area cleaner and so discourages mice
and rats from setting up camp in or near.
Waterers for Chicken
Chicken waterer is essentially the device
that holds the flock’s water in which they
drink from. The chicken waterer is
superiorly designed so that it is not easily
tipped over by the chickens, which will
often make all manner of a mess.
Laying Cages
This cage has a feeder,
waterer and a tray for eggs
laid. The chicken cannot turn
around and spread their
wings. All they do is to eat,
drink, sleep and lay eggs.
Crates
This can be used for
transporting chickens or can
be used in transferring the

G.PLANT SAFETY
Layer chicken is the most important input in the poultry
business and though they are fully vaccinated, once
mishandled they can still be prone to some bio-security risk
that can affect their production. Infectious diseases and
food safety pathogens can enter or spread within a poultry
farm in many ways.
To reduce bio-security risks from visitors the following
safety measures must be given an utmost consideration
thoroughly clean and disinfect all housing, sheds and
equipment between batches
clean and flush drinkers and feeders regularly
clean and disinfect egg grading and washing
equipment after use.
only provide feed and water for your flock indoors.
reducing bio-security risks associated with feed and
water contamination by always source feed from
reputable suppliers, have all water used for poultry
tested, treat all surface water and once treated, store it
in a closed system, from the point of treatment to the
drinker to prevent re-contamination, check and record
chlorine and treatment levels daily.
Having a good buffer distance between other poultry
farms and piggeries will help to reduce any impact
from airborne spread of disease. The minimum
distance should be at least 1km between other poultry
farms and at least 5km from breeder farms. Planting
non-bird attracting trees and shrubs as strategic
windbreaks can also act as a barrier
