Classes Policy Names:

Intro to Cybersecurity Class: cybersecurity

The Board
Students enrolled in the board can print out their power point slides or files, or handouts if
applicable located in the board (https://allinone-board.com/) prior to attending a class. (NOTE:
Those slides you print out do not contain every information – it is each student’s responsibility
to take notes while listening to presentations.).
Students should read the board user guide, visit the board during the first week of class and
understand how to use it: http://tiny.cc/Board_User_Guide

Possible Change of Schedule

Your instructor may change your schedule in a last minute by adding a new task/short
assignment, changing the due date, etc. This is to prepare students to be ready once they get into
a workforce. We constantly face new challenges, issues, last minute changes, last minute
request, etc. We’d like our students to get used to such changes and be able to adapt to those
changes you may face in the future.

Does your company plan an accident? Would you know when an accident was to occur? No.
Does your boss/client/customer always stick to the schedule? Not necessarily. If you have an
accident, you must drop everything to take care of it OR you must take care of it while you are
working on other projects. It is very important that students become aware of this fact, be
prepared, and be able to act in a swift manner

Attendance/Participation
Student participation is a critical part of this course and it is expected.

Slack Participation/Assignment
The students are required to use Slack application to complete Slack assignments. How to
get Slack?
1. Option1: download Slack on your computer/tablet or phone; visit:
https://slack.com
2. Option2: you can use SLACK on any browser by visiting: https://allinone-
academy.slack.com
Slack Invitation: You should receive an invitation to join THE ACADEMY workspace
via Slack. Check your mailbox to see the invitation and accept the invitation (or use the
link sent to you). If you do not see the invitation, please contact your instructor on the first

day of the class. Once you receive the invitation, open it and select Slack application to
open the invitation and set up your profile (Displayed name, What you do, password, etc.)
Use of Slack: open Slack (the first time, you need to sign in)
Every student enrolled in classes is expected to do the following:
1. Post one word one day in #general-discussion in the following format:
a) Word of today: ….
b) Definition (the definition can be found on www.wordreference.com and the
student will explain it in its own words)
c) Example: (the student is expected to provide examples on how to use the word in
a context)
2. React and comment on someone’s post: you should open a thread to someone’s post or
ask question to engage a thread and discuss, or contribute.
3. Respond to the topic: if an instructor asks students to respond to TOPICS posted on
Slack General Discussions with regard to certain topic/question, etc., each student is
expected to respond within 48 hours from its original posting of such request.
Note: if a student misses to complete one of the above requirements, he gets (-1pt from
his slack grade). However, if the student goes beyond the requirements, he will get a
bonus point. See bonus section. For some student’s classes, please ask your instructor if
you should post on Slack.

Book Participation/Assignment
Every student is expected to complete the Book for his/her class. This is the minimum
requirement to complete the level. The Notebook for all students should be bought the first
week of class. The instructor/coach will discuss about how the Notebook will be grade with the
student. For more questions, contact the instructor. Any student who lost his/her Notebook will
face a grade of ZERO for book assignments. It is each student’s 100% responsibility to take all
appropriate and reasonable measures to keep their notebook clean and safe until the end of the
class and the completion of their book. Students should use the notebook to complete their
book assignments and any in-class practices or assignments.
Please ask the instructor/coach or the staff if you have any questions.
Any additional book requirements can be discussed with the instructors of the respective
classes.

Materials
The materials required to complete this course are:
• Notebooks
• Besides the Module content authored for the course, students are advised to refer to or
use Introduction to cybersecurity e-books available in the various digital libraries or
from any other sources.

NOTE: THE ACADEMY policy states that if a student is absent (no communication) for
two (2) consecutive weeks, the student may be administratively withdrawn from class.
Thus, if a student misses two or more consecutive weekly assessments/assignments and/or any
participation in the course activity without contacting the instructor to explain the extenuating
circumstances, the student will be referred to the Director of studies of the school for
administrative withdrawal.

To the instructor
You (the instructor) has the responsibility to give the students feedback on their post and
correct if needed. Encourage the students to search and learn in your class. Post topics and
questions on Slack to the students (even students not in your class). Your only class lesson is
not sufficient for the student to make progress. Student should practice a lot.
It is at the best interest to the students to complete all the requirements for the class to
successfully pass the level.
1) Students should read the course syllabus, sign the contract on the last page, and submit
on the board as first assignment (this helps them to understand the class policy)
2) Complete their book with the help of their instructor.
3) Complete their board assignments, Slack discussions, Quizzes, and Exams. Missing
one of those requirements will jeopardize their passing grade. A class will be complete when
the following requirements are met:
a. Board assignments, (all assignments should be completed by students)
b. Slack assignments
c. Quizzes, (quizzes on the board only count)
d. And Exams (exams on the board only count)

Expectations/Course Policy
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a professional/scholarly manner while taking the
classes. Professionalism of students and academic honesty are regarded as essential in this
course.
o The expectation is that students will:
1. Turn in homework in a timely manner,
2. Take initiative,
3. Go above and beyond of requirement(s),
4. Respect their peers,
5. Communicate necessary information with the instructor,
6. Behave appropriately.
o No derogatory comments about, or towards, any member of the class will be
tolerated in any class period.
Check your personal email, board, and Slack announcements section every day.
A student who has a question(s) about assignments must contact his/her instructor at least four
(4) days PRIOR to that assignment’s due date. Each student may seek help by:
(1) Visiting his/her instructor
(2) Making an appointment for a meeting using Setmore meeting link
(3) Sending an email to his/her instructor

• Cheating and plagiarism will be dealt with severely. Any student caught cheating or
plagiarizing work (cheating includes copying programs or homework) will be subject
to receiving a grade of "F" for the course OR expulsion from the school.
• If you copy assignments/responses, etc. from your classmates, all parties involved
will receive a grade of “F.”

Revised: 01/02/2024

• Working on assignments using a computer at home or in a computer lab is at your own
risk. If the computer you are using crashes and your files become defected, or are not
printable, this is 100% your responsibility. Save and back your work up often! It is
critical to save a backup copy of your work on the flash drive, on a disk, and/or on a jump
or USB drive. Disk/jump drive problems are not an excuse for not meeting due dates.
• No point(s) will be given for those assignments that do not meet ANY part of the
instruction(s). In another words, there will be no partial credit in this course.
Therefore, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you follow instructions (Including any
specific direction(s) given in class, email, and/or course announcement.)
• Be sure to retain your notes, handout, and assignments in a clean notebook for your
future reference.
• When you encounter any problem online/using Internet, please be sure to copy what
EXACTLY says on your screen. - This should help both of us to solve the issue.

Students with Special Needs Enrolled in this Course

Students who may need accommodations due to disability should contact their instructor to
discuss specific needs.
It is a student’s responsibility to inform the instructor of special needs. It is suggested this
information be shared early in the course so that adaptation instruction and/or evaluation can
be effectively and efficiently made.

Academic Honesty
THE ACADEMY values intellectual integrity and the highest standards of academic conduct.
To be prepared to meet societal needs as leaders and role models, students must be educated in
an ethical learning environment that promotes a high standard of honor in scholastic work.
Academic dishonesty undermines institutional integrity and threatens the academic fabric of
THE ACADEMY. Dishonesty is not an acceptable avenue to success. It diminishes the quality
of THE ACADEMY education, which is valued because of ALL IN ONE-ACADEMY high
academic standards. Fostering an appreciation for academic standards and values is a shared
responsibility among students, instructors, and staff.

[Let the student read this section alone]

I understand that academic dishonesty will not be tolerated at my school. I am here to learn.
Through learning, I will strive to become a better person and a more valuable contributor to
society. I understand that dishonesty in the classroom, through cheating, plagiarism or other
dishonest acts, defeats this purpose and disgraces the mission and quality of THE
ACADEMY education. Therefore, I make the following pledge:

[The student raises his right hand and read ALOUD the pledge in red:]
In accordance with the Honor Code, I will not engage in dishonesty in my
academic activities, and I will not tolerate such dishonesty by other students.

Email not meeting this requirement will be deleted.

Students are encouraged to C.C. (carbon copy) their email to themselves. This way, students
could have a proof of their email submission to their instructor. This would become helpful if
there was any discrepancy with regard to communication. (This practice is essential not only
in the course but also once you get out in the industry/workplace…)

All assignments shall be submitted via BOARD Assignments link (only if you are enrolled
in the board). When saving your document, NAME your ORIGINAL document as:

Class Name_Assignment Name_Your Name
