BACKGROUND:
Access to clean and reliable water is a fundamental necessity for
ensuring a safe, healthy, and effective learning environment for students. At
Tagas Elementary School, we are deeply committed to fostering a Child-
Friendly School System (CFSS) that prioritizes the well-being of all members
of the school community, including students, teachers, and staff.
To achieve this goal, we focus on the continuous improvement of our
facilities, particularly regarding water and sanitation. Ensuring that all
students have access to sufficient water supply is vital, as it directly impacts
their health, academic performance, and overall development.
In addition to providing adequate water sources, we emphasize proper
sanitation facilities that promote good hygiene practices. This includes
regularly maintaining clean toilets and handwashing stations, as well as
implementing educational programs to teach students about the importance
of hygiene and health practices.
By reinforcing these health and safety measures, Tagas Elementary
School not only supports the individual health of each student but also
fosters a positive school environment where learning can thrive. In doing so,
we strive to create a community that values and practices good health and
safety habits, contributing to the overall success and well-being of our
students and staff.
The school is currently facing challenges in maintaining a stable water
supply for daily operations, such as handwashing, cleaning, and sanitation.
Limited water availability impacts not only the hygiene and comfort of
students but also the overall efficiency of school operations. To address this
issue, Tagas Elementary School, along with the voting council members of
Tagas ES-SGC and in coordination with the Barangay Council, will implement
a project to install a water pump dedicated solely for school use. This
initiative aims to provide a more stable and reliable source of water
throughout the school year, preventing disruptions and promoting a
healthier learning environment.
