ABSTRACT

Samarth Bharat, under the leadership of Seva-vardhini, stands as a groundbreaking initiative

committed to fostering India's empowerment through the active engagement of its citizens. It
acknowledges the intrinsic drive within each person to contribute to the nation's progress,
irrespective of their profession or background. Emphasizing participatory citizenship in social
welfare activities, the program underscores the importance of collective action in addressing
societal challenges. Founded in 1998, Seva-vardhini acts as a catalyst for grassroots
volunteerism, facilitating meaningful participation in community-driven endeavors. Through
Samarth Bharat, both non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and individuals are offered a
platform to collaborate and mobilize a diverse pool of volunteers tailored to meet the specific
needs of each initiative. By harnessing the collective efforts of proactive citizens, the
movement strives to tackle a wide array of societal issues, promoting a culture of altruism and
social responsibility for the holistic development of India.

The outlined activities encompass a comprehensive approach to environmental sustainability

and social empowerment. Women empowerment initiatives involve outreach to colleges,
institutions, and underserved areas, informing women about free training programs and job
guarantees. Concurrently, plastic waste management efforts enforce policies prohibiting
plastic use within and around temples, promoting eco-friendly practices among devotees and
visitors. Further, temple surroundings are maintained through regular clean-up drives,
emphasizing waste segregation for effective disposal. Complementing these actions, tree
plantation drives contribute to ecological balance and air quality improvement. Additionally,
magazine segregation ensures organized archival, facilitating efficient access to information.
Finally, Green Sunday activities involve planting and nurturing plants, fostering community
engagement in environmental conservation. Together, these endeavors promote sustainable
living practices while empowering communities, fostering a harmonious relationship between
humans and their surroundings.
