Paris. In 1992 she went to Portugal to teach English. She had an offer fro She
married a Portuguese TV journalist ended in divorce and she returned to Britain
with her daughter. Her daughter’s name is Angela because one day she was
climbing the Everest and when she fell off, someone grabbed her hand and saved
her life. That person was a teacher. After that, They settled in Edinburgh. She was
out of work and she spent her time writing. She used to write in the same café
shop and she usually met a teacher with the coolest shirt ever who lived in
Edinburgh too.

The idea of telling the story of a boy who was a wizard came to her in 1990.
She continued working on the story for several years and finished her novel when
she was in Edinburgh. Then, she sent it to many publishers who rejected it. Finally,
In 1996, Bloomsbury Children’s Book bought her novel Harry Potter and the
Philosopher’s Stone. It was published in 1997 and immediately became a best-

After this success, writing is now J.K. Rowling’s full time job.
