Removal of the Inboard Ailerons

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT) in position below the inboard aileron.
(2) Remove the applicable access panels:
(a) for the left inboard aileron, the access panels 575AB, 575BB, 591AB, 591BB, 5
91CB, 591DB.
(b) for the right inboard aileron, the access panels 675AB, 675BB, 691AB, 691BB,
691CB, 691DB.
(3) Loosen the screws (1) and (3) to permit movement of the seals (2) and (4).

D. Installation of the HOIST-R I,FLAP SLAT (98F27508498000)
CAUTION: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE ADJUSTER ASSEMBLIES ON THE HOISTING SLI
NG TOO MUCH OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT/ASSEMBL

(1) Remove the covers and remove the hoisting lugs from the aileron.
(2) Install the hoisting lugs in the aileron with the hoist eye in the up position.
(3) Install the HOIST-R I,FLAP SLAT (98F27508498000) on the hoisting lugs and tighten t
he adjuster assemblies to lock the HOIST-R I,FLAP SLAT (98F27508498000) in positio
n.
NOTE: The inboard aileron weighs approx. 90 kg (198.4160 lb).

4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Inboard Ailerons
Ref. Fig. Actuator Connection and Hinge No. 1 and 2
(1) Disconnect the Aileron Servo Control (ASC).
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (18) and remove the lock caps (33), the nu
ts (32) and the washers (31).
(b) Support the aileron and remove the bolts (29).
(c) Manually retract the ASC No. 1 and ASC No. 2 (34) and lower onto the stops a
nd remove the bushes (30) and (39) from the ASC attachment brackets.
(2) Remove the weight from the aileron with a CRANE 100KG (220 LB).
(3) For hinge No. 1, 2 and 3:
(a) Remove the nut (38), the washers (36), the bonding strap (37) and (55) and t
he bolt (35).
(b) Remove the nut (27), the washer (28), the bolt (20) and (45) and the locking
plate (21).
(c) Remove and discard the cotter pin (26) and remove the nut (25) and the wash
er (24).
(4) For hinge No. 4 and 5:
(a) Remove the nut (38), the washers (36), the bonding strap (57) and the bolt (5
6).
(b) Remove the nut (50), the washer (49), the bolt (46) and the locking plate (4
7).
(c) Remove and discard the cotter pin (52) and remove the nut (51) and the wash
er (53).
(5) Make sure that the aileron is supported by the crane and remove the hinge bolts (22)
and (48). Move the aileron aft and away from the wing.
(6) Remove the bushes (23) and (54).
