GES-13001 Solar Cell Module
The front panel of GES-13001 Solar Cell Module is shown below. It contains digital
multimeters DMM1 and DMM2, Adjustable Load and Fixed Load, Inverter, Energy
Storage, and DC Power Input units.

To power the digital multimeters DMM1 and DMM2, connect the barrel connector of
the provided AC Power Adapter into the DC 15V jack on the GES-13001 Solar Cell
Module, and then plug the Power Adapter into a power outlet. The power LED will
activate when AC power is supplied.

GES-13002/GES-13003 Data Acquisition Device (DAQ)
To measure and record the voltage and current values using the GES-100 Solar cell
Software, the GES-13002/GES-13003Data Acquisition Device (DAQ) must be
employed.

Installing the DAQ Device Driver
1. Insert the GES-100 CD into your CD-ROM drive. Run the USB4702.exe file
located in the CD-ROM drive root directory. The Advantech Device Driver Setup
window opens as shown below. The Setup program will install Advantech
USB4702 Device Driver on your computer. Follow the instructions in the Setup
wizard. When prompted, select the appropriate button to install Advantech Device
Driver. Click “Next” to continue.

2. Run the DAQ tools package.exe file located in the CD-ROM drive root directory.
Advantech Setup window opens and guides you through the rest of the
installation process. Follow the instructions in the Setup wizard. When prompted,
select the appropriate button to install Advantech Device Manager. This Setup
program will install Advantech Device Manager on your computer. Click “Next” to
continue.

3. Using the provided USB cable, connect the USB Port on the rear panel of
GES-13002 Data Acquisition Device (DAQ) to an available USB port on your PC.
4. On the taskbar, click Start >> All Programs >> Advantech Automation >>
Device Manager >> Advantech Device Manager. The Advantech Device
Manager opens as shown below.

5. Select “Advantech USB-4702” in the Supported Devices box and then click “Add”.
The USB-4702 board will appear in the Installed Devices box to indicate that your
Data Acquisition Device has been installed.
6. Click “Setup”. The USB-4702 Device Setting dialog box opens as shown below.
Select “0” for Board ID, “Differential” for All Channels, and remain others
unchanged (default). Click “OK”.

Installing GES-100 Solar cell Software
7. Insert the GES-100 CD into your CD-ROM drive. Run the Setup.exe file located in
the CD-ROM drive root directory. The installer wizard appears and guides you
through the rest of the installation process. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
When prompted, select the appropriate button to install GES-100 Solar cell
software.

8. In the License Agreement window shown below, scroll to view the terms of the
agreement. When satisfied, select “I accept the License Agreement(s)” option and
then click “Next”.

9. You must restart your computer when the installation is completed to finish the
install process.
10. Using the provided USB cable, connect the USB Port on the rear panel of
GES-13002 Data Acquisition Device (DAQ) to an available USB port on your PC.

1. Insert the GES-100-13003 into your CD ROM driver, Run the Setup.exe file
located in the CD-ROM drive root directory. The installer wizard appears and
guides you through the rest of the installation process. Follow the instructions in
the wizard. When prompted, select the appropriate button to install
GES-100-13003 Solar cell software.
2. In the License Agreement window shown below, scroll to view the terms of the
agreement. When satisfied, select “I accept the License Agreement(s)” option and
then click “Next”.

3. You must restart your computer when the installation is completed to finish the

4. Using the provided USB cable, connect the USB Port on the rear panel of
GES-13003 Data Acquisition Device (DAQ) to an available USB port on your PC.

5. Launch Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) at the Desktop or
selecting Start>>All Programs> National Instruments>>Measurement &
Automatons , Check that your DAQ device appears under Devices and
Interfaces. If your device does not appear, press <F5> to refresh the view in MAX.
6. To launch the GES-100 Solar cell software, click Start >> All Programs >>
GES-100 >> GES-100 Solar cell. The GES-100 Solar Cell window opens with the
Select Device dialog as shown below. Click “OK” to close the dialog box.

Main Screen

Menu Bar
The menu bar contains four menus, each with submenu commands to control the
application.
File Menu
The File Menu contains three submenu commands: Save Data, Print, and Exit.
Save Data – Save the acquired data as a file.
Print – Copy the data on the Data Display Area To Clipboard, To Printer, or To Web
Page (IE Explorer).
Exit – Quit GES-100 Solar Cell.

Axis setting Menu
The Axis setting Menu contains two submenu commands: Axis Select and Axis
Parameter.
Axis Select – Open Axis Select window and select X-axis name on the Select X Axis
tab and the Y-axis name on the Select Y Axis tab.
Axis Parameter – Open Axis parameter window and set axis parameters and grid
color on the Plots tab and text parameters on the Font tab.

Display Menu
The Display Menu contains three submenu commands: X-Y Graph, Fit Curve and
Waveforms.
X-Y Graph – Display the acquired data in X-Y format on the Data Display Area.
Fit Curve – Display the acquired data in X-Y format with the selected method (fit
curve) on the Data Display Area.
Waveforms – Display the acquired data in Y-T format, just like an oscilloscope.
