Qlik Sense Important Glossary

Qlik Sense: A Data analytics modern new generation solution

Qlik Senes APP: A "Qlik Sense application" (or simply "app") is a self-contained,

purpose-built environment within the Qlik Sense platform where users can

visualize, analyze, and interact with data through interactive charts, tables, and

dashboards, designed to focus on a specific business task or area of analysis,

allowing for exploration and discovery of insights through the data associated

with that application;

Associative Selection: Searching the data with its relationship

Dimensions: Dimensions are those fields in a data table which are composed of

descriptive or informative text values.

Measures: Measures are those data fields which contain numeric or such values

which are calculable

Data Model : represent the data tables and its relationship

Snapshot: A screenshot or snapshot as called in Qlik Sense can be taken of any

visualization created in a Qlik Sense app

Architecure of Qlik Senese: represents the different layers of data

QVF: represent the qilk file extension.

Data Profiling: viewing the source of data with summarizing and information of

data.

Story Telling: "storytelling" refers to the feature that allows users to create a

narrative presentation by taking snapshots of data visualizations within an app,

combining them with text and visual effects on slides, to effectively communicate

insights and key findings to an audience, essentially turning data into a compelling

story with a clear flow and context

Data Layers: a three-tier architecture where the first layer involves "Extract"

applications that focus solely on extracting raw data from various sources, 2ndly

transforming it into a business-ready format, and storing it in QVD (Qlik View

Data) files, third layer uses these QVDs to build visualizations and dashboards

within "Analysis" applications, essentially separating the data preparation from

the presentation layer.

Data Model Star Schema : A star schema in Qlik Sense is a data model that

organizes data into a central fact table connected to dimension tables. This

structure is designed to make it easier to understand and analyze data.

Snow Flake Schema : Qlik Sense and Snowflake are tools that work together to

help businesses analyze and visualize data. Qlik Sense is a business intelligence

tool, and Snowflake is a cloud data platform

Data Bubles: In Qlik Sense, data bubbles are a visual representation of data

associations from multiple sources. The size of the bubble indicates the size of

the table.

Manual Data Associations:

A "manual association" in Qlik Sense refers to the process of explicitly defining a

relationship between two data tables by selecting specific fields from each table

to link them together, rather than relying on Qlik Sense's automatic association

detection; this is done in the data modeler when the software doesn't

automatically identify the correct connection between tables, allowing you to

manually specify which fields should be used as the key for association.
