Nursery Newsletter

April/May 2024

Dear Parents,
We welcome all of you to an exciting and happy year designed to promote and enhance your
child’s growth and development. As you talk to your child about their day, you shall become a
part of their world, a world of imagination and creativity. You will see how our children in nursery
are encouraged, supported, and motivated to explore and learn in a creative way. We look
forward to a great year!

Our aim is to make this journey a stress-free and enjoyable experience for our little ones. The
schedule of daily activities is carefully planned to encourage self- confidence, independence and
group- cooperation through large group, small group and one-on-one participation in various
interactive experiences. The activities will include instruction and skill-based reinforcement in

Reading readiness, Number work,


Prewriting Skills, Environmental Studies,
Art and Craft, Music, Clay, Dance,
Physical Education, Social/emotional
skills and Language development.
In the month of April, we will help the children to establish a routine in school and also help to
prepare them for the year ahead.
We will introduce them to the world of “Colours” and “Shapes” through various hands-on
activities, stories, songs and rhymes. We will do “Finger painting”, “Tearing and Pasting” and
Sorting activities which will help them to develop their fine motor skills. We will also introduce
rote counting of numbers from 1 to 20, 7 days of the week, weather of the day and school
prayer during the class activities.

Here is a short summary of the activities planned for the months of April and May:

Reading Skills

* Introduction and Vocabulary exercises for letters b and f through


interesting activities.

*Show and Tell - Children will talk about their favourite colour and favourite shape. This
will initiate the process of learning to express oneself in front of a group.

*Rhymes and stories related to various topics covered in the month.


Pre-Writing Skills
*Activities like folding, tearing/pasting, stringing beads,
sorting objects, filling, playing with dough
will be done through the month for development of fine
motor co-ordination.
Pattern drawing - Standing lines.

Number Work
*Introduction to number 1
*Introduction to Shapes
* Oral counting from 1 - 20.

Through the months of April and May children will enjoy many extra -curricular activities like
Music
Art and Craft
Dance
PE and Clay.
