ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT ON GULAYAN SA PAARALAN

SY 2024-2025

Gulayan sa Paaralan is envisioned by the Department of Education to help address


hunger and malnutrition concerns in our school and community, especially in our country. It
is part of the Department’s poverty alleviation programs. It will foster public awareness of
both the health, nutritional and economic benefits of establishing school, household, and
community gardens.
Hunger and malnutrition have forced under privileged school children to achieve
proper nutrition and to help their parents earn a living.
The program aims to encourage teachers, pupils and their parents to grow their own
vegetables in school and their homes or backyard. It is the means to eliminate hunger in
their area .
The Sinamar Sur Dumag Elementary School started to plant different
vegetables during the BrigadaEskwela 2024. This project was initiated by the school head
Grace T. Daquioag, EdD , Principal 2 and managed by the school GPP Coordinator Estrella E.
Gonzales, Master Teacher 2 . It was cooperated by all teachers from Kindergarten
to Grade 6.
Patience and continuous labor in planting vegetables after the weather affects the
plantation of vegetables in school. We still planting and replacing the affected rotten
vegetables.
Attached herein are the pictures of gulayan area by grade.

A. Educational Relevance

* Pupils Involvement

Children have their daily work scheduled activities. Some pupils clean inside
the room. Some assigned to clean the yard, water the plants and weed the garden. Pupils
required to bring plastic bottles, old shoes, cans ,different vegetable and herbal plants for
the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program. Daily monitoring of assigned daily work was checked
and recorded by the class adviser.

To sustain and keep the environment clean and safe, pupils were trained to
separate their wastes from plastic, nabubulok, di -nabubulok at delikado. Waste
materials like papers , plastic bottles and other, turned into paper charcoal, flower vase,
pencil holder, pillow ,pots for plants. bottle caps for damath chips and other usable
materials for the zero waste management.
 Parents’ Involvement
Parents/guardians were very supportive in the school and classroom activities.
They were group for the daily scheduled YCAP to maintain the gulayan sa paaralan.
Parents planned, required to bring materials like bamboo, good soil, plastic bottles, old
tires, old shoes ,sacks and different vegetable and herbal plants. Parents worked with
love and dedication for their children. Active participation and bayanihan were observed
by the class adviser for this school year parents group.

The attendance of participation in their scheduled time were notified and


reminded by online through class group chat. The homeroom officers were reminded
them before their schedule. Some parents failed to come due to their work ,some in
abroad and some have their own reasons but they have their promise and they have their
voluntary financial amount for the good of the project . The homeroom officers and the
class adviser requested voluntary donors to spirited stakeholders to share their blessings
for the good of the school and the class gulayan program. All financial amount and any
kind of donations were listed and monitored by the officers and class advisers.

GULAYAN SA PAARALAN BEST PRACTICES
The Sinamar Sur Dumag Elementary School classes started to plant vegetables during the
BrigadaEskwela2024..This project was initiated by the school head Grace T. Daquioag, EdD Principal II with
the Gulayan sa Paaralan Coordinator. Mrs. Estrella E. Gonzales. It was cooperated by all teachers from
Kindergarten to Grade 6.
As of this time, all parents from Kindergarten to Grade 6 planted vegetables in their designated garden
area like eggplant, sili,luya, onion, alugbati,malunggay,gabi,squash,upo and etc.

Best Practices in Gulayan sa Paaralan were observed:


1. Utilizing idle area in the school by planting vegetables using recyclable sacks, plastic bottles, tires,
shoes, old pantsand others.
2. Using organic fertilizer by parents in all grade levels.
3. Pulling of weeds and watering the plants .
4. Leadership and active participation of parents were noted.
Patience and continuous laborin planting vegetables after the weather affects the plantation of
vegetables in school. We still planting and replacing the affected rotten vegetables.

On the 30th of October 2024, Awarding of Recognition for the Search for the
Best School Implementer of the Gulayan sa Paaralan was done. The school principal
Grace T. Daquioag,EdD ,the SPTA President Kgwd. Efren Manuel and some barangay
officials attended the said program and the result to wit:

II. Rationale

The Gulayan sa Paaalan aims to boost the awareness of the young children on the
significance growing vegetables. Planting vegetables are beneficial to our health and it is
very essential, also in maintaining the balance of our diet.
Gulayan sa Paaralan project advocates the importance of farming and aims to provide
nutritious food and learning opportunities for pupils through a school garden as it increased
parents awareness and appreciation for growing their own food in their backyards.It also
offers additional income of which the entire family will benefit, The vegetable should be
originally grown in plots and in empty containers to minimize expenses.

The teacher encourages the parents to work hand in hand for the attainment and success
of the Gulayan sa Paaralan. The said project supports a healthy body and mind as it supplies
for feeding beneficiaries in our school.

III. Objectives
1. To raise awareness of the young children on the significance of growing
of planting vegetables.
2. To utilize the schools vacant lot.
3. To address malnutrition.

VII. Methodologies
The school principal discussed about the contest of the Gulayan sa Paaralan. She conducted
meeting to the class advisers to inform about the criteria of the Gulayan sa Paaralan
contest school level.

The amount received were used for the maintenance of vegetables in the different
grade areas.
