COURSE: Master in Prosthetics & Orthotics

Duration: 2 Years –Full time


Affiliation & Recognition: Rajiv Gandhi University of health Sciences, Karnataka
(RGUHS) & Rehabilitation council of India
Medium of Instruction: English
Candidate Eligibility: passed minimum 3 ½ years/4 ½ years duration Bachelor
degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO) or B.Sc. in Prosthetics and Orthotics with
not less than 50% of marks in aggregate from this university(RGUHS) or any other
universities in India or abroad as equivalent
Or
Candidates who have passed Bachelor in Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO) or B.Sc in
Prosthetics and Orthotics through Bridge course/Condensed Course or through
Lateral Entry after completing their Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics from any
institutions/ Universities in India recognised by Rehabilitation Council of India
(RCI), New Delhi with not less than 50% of marks in aggregate

Admission begin: January every year


Classes start: 3rd October every year
ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
First step: Send dully filled in application with copy of following documents
(Self-attested Photocopies -2 copies each)
 10 years of schooling certificates and Mark sheet
 12 years of schooling certificates and Mark sheet
 Bachelor in Prosthetics & Orthotics 3½ years / 4½ years certificate and mark
sheets
 Bachelor in Prosthetics & Orthotics Internship certificate
 Bridge course / Condensed course / Lateral Entry Diploma in Prosthetics &
Orthotics certificate and mark sheets
 Registration certificate from Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi
 Eligibility certificate of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka
(RGUHS) (compulsory)
 Character certificate from School/college
 Physical fitness certificate from a medical doctor of a government hospital

 4 passport size photos (Description: Size 3.5 x 3.5 cm, Colour of background:
white)
 LABORATORY TESTS- Blood- Ag Hbs (Hepatitis B), Ac HCV (Hepatitis C),
Tuberculin Skin test (Mantoux) and Complete blood count by Government
Hospital doctor
 Aadhaar card
 Income & Caste certificate (SC, ST, Backward class)
 Disability Certificate (If applicable)

DO NOT SEND ANY ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS ALONG WITH THE APPLICATION


FORM

Second step: Applying for Eligibility certificate of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health
Sciences, Karnataka(RGUHS) (compulsory)
Third step: Send following documents
 Sponsorship certificate from the sponsored if applicable
 Recommendation letter from parent organisation (present/past employer) if
applicable

Fourth step: Issuing Provisional admission letter


Fifth step: Remit the fees in as soon as provisional admission received.
Cheque/DD/Online payment is acceptable
Sixth Step: Submit all original certificates& mark sheet
Final Step: Arrival to Institute 4th week of September

Cancellation of Admission:
All the admissions made will be provisional and if at any stage during the entire
course it is found that the candidate has submitted false information in the
application form, his/her candidature for the course will be cancelled and
disciplinary action may be taken against him/her as the institutional rules. The
institution reserves the right to cancel the admission of any student for a specific
reason.

Refundment:

If candidate wanted to cancel his/her admission after the course fee payment of
commencement of the classes, refundable of course fees will be subject to
institution decision and student cannot claim.

Minimum Two Seminar Presentation, Two Journal Club, and Five


Case Study presentation per candidate is mandatory.

Minimum attendance:
Each year attendance should not be less than 80% of the number of working
periods (lectures, seminars) and 90% of clinics during each year. Failure in
maintain required attendance by any student will disqualify to appear in the
university examination. The candidate who will not be able to take the
examination for want of attendance will have to appear for that subject in
subsequent university examination by putting in required attendance.

Examination:
Candidate has to pass in theory and practical exam separately in each of the
paper.

Internal Assessment (IA):


Regular periodic assessment shall be conducted throughout the course. There
should be a minimum of two (2) periodical test during 1st and 2nd year in
theory and Practical in each subject/paper separately. The average of the test
marks will be calculated and reduced to 20 in theory and 20 in practical. The
marks of the internal assessment shall be sent to the university.

University examination:
Two university examinations, one at the end of the first year (Oct/Nov) and the
other at the end of second year (Oct/Nov) respectively. The university
conducts two supplementary in year at an interval of not less than four to six
months.

Maximum period for completion of the course: 4 years.

HOLIDAYS

a) 1 month vacation in November -1st year

b) 13 days of public holidays observed by Mobility India every year.

c) All Second & Third Saturdays and Sundays is holiday.

Note: No vacation in 2nd year

Certification
After successful completion of all examination, candidate will be awarded with
Degree of Master in Prosthetics and Orthotics (MPO).

Course fees: based on merit (2020-21 academic year). Enclosed separately.
