emotions towards their home”

Design Ideology
The project is an epitome of minimal aesthetics and
right orientation. The concept of arches and curves are
built to connect vertical and linear surfaces to create
harmony in the total interior.

amount of storage. The idea being to create a
free-flowing space, the first step was to establish a
connection between the living, dining and kitchen.

Living Room
The living room planning was kept as it is, since it had an
attached balcony right next to it. In the living room, arches inside
the wood-panelled walls are enhanced with a minimal artwork
in pastel tones — which acts as a backdrop for the dark leather
sofa. The TV unit too has been provided with similar aesthetics
to create uniformity in the space. Curvilinear grooves become a
backdrop to a custom-made cloud-shaped light in the room.

Dining Space
An open kitchen attached to the dining was a requirement
by the client. The architects resolved this by demolishing the
common wall between them. The wall was replaced by a curvy
breakfast counter and a tailor-made dining table was positioned
to facilitate movement from the living area to the open kitchen.
The furniture and the lights are custom made to fit into these
spaces and highlighting them.

Kitchen
The earlier closed kitchen was opened up to the dining spaces
to allow interaction. Full height storage cabinets helped make
the kitchen clutter free thus ensuring easy cleaning. Subtle
colors on glossy finishes make the kitchen blend in with the
color palette of the rest of the interiors.

Wash Area
The wash basin was replaced from its earlier
position to be nearer the dining space. The curves
are continued to form a nice corner. Hand made
tiles along with the appropriate sanitary ware and
cabinets are used here to highlight the space and
blend it in with the surroundings.

Passage
A narrow passage leads one to the two master
bedrooms and one guest bedroom. A vault is
designed in the ceiling of the passage to continue
the design language. The veneers on the doors
are also designed in the same shape to ensure
continuity.

Master Bedroom
The master bedroom are kept minimal and artistic with multiple
openings that ensure active ventilation and light. Lighter
colors brighten up the room further. The existing niches for
wardrobes are converted into study spaces whereas a wall to
wall wardrobe has been designed for utility. Wooden finishes
combine with colorful laminates to accompany the artwork in
the bed back.
the next door | studioarch+partners 23
Kids Bedroom
The kids bedroom is a little more brighter with a pop of colours
added into the furnishings. The curves continue into the bed-
back and the wardrobes along with the doors. A cosy sitting
space has been provided next to the wardrobe where the
window is placed where the girls can sit to peep out into the
neighbourhood. The wardrobes are treated with rattan cane
jaalis covered with glass to give it a traditional look.

Conclusion
The architects early vision and tight collaboration
with the clients along with multiple artists who
provided the house with custom made unique
artworks make this project stand out as an example
of what can be achieved through a unifying alliance.
