potential

Electric potential is the work done to move a unit positive charge from infinity to a point in an electric field, measured in volts. Potential difference is the work done in moving a unit charge between two points, also measured in volts. A voltmeter is used to measure potential difference and is connected in parallel across the points of interest.

Electric potential:-

The amount of work done to moving a unit

positive charge from infinity to a point in electric field is known as electric
potential of that point. It is denoted by a symbol V. It’s S.I. unit is Volt.
Potential difference:-
The difference in electric potential between
two points is known as potential difference. It is also defined as the
amount of work done in moving a unit charge from one point to other
point.

And , Q= charged
The S.I. unit of potential difference is also Volt.
Definition of 1 volt:-
The potential difference between two points is
said to be 1 volt if 1 joule of work is done in moving 1 coloumb of electric
charge from one point to other.
Note:-
1) The potential difference between two points is measured by an
instrument called voltmeter. The voltmeter is always connected in
parallel across two points where the potential difference to be
measured.
