LINEAR DIMENSION

Linear dimensions can be horizontal,


vertical or aligned.
RADIAL DIMENSION

Radial dimension measures the radius


or diameter of arcs and circles with an
optional centerline or center mark.
ANGULAR DIMENSION
Angular dimensions measure the angle
between two selected geometric objects
or three points.

Variable Default Description
dimaso on All parts of the dimension are one entity.
dimscale 1.00 Changes sizes of text arrows.
dimasz .18 Sets arrowhead length.

dimexe .18 Extension beyond dimension line.


dimtad off Places text above the dimension line.
dimtxt .18 Sets height of text.
dimtix off Forces text inside of extension lines.

dimdec ?? Sets number of decimal places of dimension


dimcen ?? Sets center tick mark size

Instructions:
1. Open AutoCAD. Start a New drawing file.
2. Analyze the given figure.
3. Tell the students to type LINE in the
command line window. Then, press
ENTER.
4. First Point is 2,2
5. Draw the object using relative
coordinates.
6. After drawing the object, demonstrate
how to place the linear dimensions and
leader lines for the radius and diameter
of the circle.

open the Dimension
Style Manager, Type

and press Enter.
