DA NANG CITY

1.Da Nang and Cham Museum:


Da Nang is the third largest city in Vietnam away Hanoi or HCM city for almost 1285 km2
with population 1.2 millions peoples.
In this land from 2-14 century, Da Nang belonged to Cham Pa Kingdom, a nation is located
at the central of Vietnam border with Dai Viet( Vietnam Kingdom),Ha Tinh Province away
here almost 415kms in the north and border with Chan Lap( Khmer Empire Kingdom) in the
south with Dong Nai provice away here for 800kms.It is a long country and powerful nation
in the past.
From 4-8 century, the capital of Champa Kingdom is located in Tra Kieu( Shimhapura
Citadel-Lion Citadel) away here for 45 kms and The kings built My Son Holyland from 4-14
century to worship Shiva God with 70 tower temples located on the beautiful mountain
named My Son( Beautiful Mountain) founded by French in 1885And when excavating, it is
founded with 70 ashes pots of Cham Pa Kings there.
During Champa history, the glorious periods is 9-10th century and the main religions of the
Kingdome is Hinduism but the main god worshipping at My Son is Shiva God with Linga
and Youni( Male and Females symbolization or Ying and Yang in Chinese culture.
The history of Champa Kingdom is related to history of Vietnam Kingdom or Dai Viet with
almost 250 years of wars and until 15 century, Champa King is just a small nation and until
end of 18 century missing on the map.
Cham peoples also have good relationship with Indonesia and Malaysia in the past like Che
Bong Nga a talented general married with Queen of Malaysia in 1360 and he also follow
Muslim and introduce Muslim to Champa Kingdom and today, Cham peoples living mainly
in the South of Vietnam with religions are Muslim, Hinduism, Christianism, Buddhism also.
About Cham museum is finished building in 1919 with displaying almost 400 sculpturing
statues inside by excavating at different provinces along the central of Vietnam with divided
into areas like Tra Kieu zone, My Son Zone, Quang Nam Zone. . .Now if you would like to
see the original statues for almost thousands years just follow with me and each sculpturing
statues with label with its name and short explanation so I do not explain and I just take
you for exploring only.

2. An Long Pagoda( Peaceful Dragon Pagoda).


The local fishermen living along the Han river before built the pagoda to worship Lady
Buddha( Quan Yin- means Observation and Hearing) to appearance like a dragon to rescue
the fishermen and it was built in 17 century.Under Lady Buddha, there are 4 holy animals in
the wolrd is Dragon-Unicorn-Turtle-Phoenix symbolize for Land-Water-Fire and symbolize
for Wealthy-Lucky-Healthy and Longevity according to oriental culture. And almost
Vietnamese peoples follow Zen Buddhism from China call Vahayana Buddhism.

On the right side of the pagoda is small altar to worship Ong To Ba Nguyet for family
couples or young couples come for worshiping happy and lucky life or mother pray for
baby.…

3. Introduce the life style, culture, habbits...in Da Nang city and how it is different with
the North and the South....
Stop in front of small coffee shop talking about Coffee culture in Vietnam from Egg coffee
invented in the north in 1940s when they used red yolk instead of condense milk to make the
coffee or Salty Coffee invented for 10 years ago by the mistaking of putting wrong salt to
coffee instead of sugar by wife in Hue then invented to Salty Coffee.Or coconut coffee
invested by a man with putting some coconut milk in the Mekong Delta then peoples makes
the best coconut coffee in Vietnam because Vietnamese love to invented the best cuisine for
tasting so all fast foods like MacDonald or Starbuck coming to Vietnam not easy to get
successful because all Vietnamese can cook the fast foods in here.

4. Apec Park
Crossing the street to visit the Kite Shapes Building.
APEC stands for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. Statue Park officially opened on
November 9, 2017, welcoming leaders from 21 member economies. The park is built on an
area of more than 3,000 m2, next to the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture The brickyard
and footpath have 25% of area , the rest of the land is planted with green trees, grass and
statues representing 21 economies of APEC 2017 members in Vietnam. The park offers a
ground floor and a space for souvenirs, a green area, arts decoration, free public exhibitions
and a water fountain between Dragon Bridge and the Chàm Sculpture Museum.

The work is done in the form of socialization.


The 21 statues exhibited at the park have unique artistic value, symbolizing the concept sent
by the APEC economies.

It’s an extension area of the APEC Park where Đà Nẵng opened 3,000sq.m sculpture garden
for the opening of the 2017 APEC Summit in the city ( 2017)

The city said the park, which was built on 8,668sq.m with total investment of VNĐ759
billion (US$33 million), features a large steel arch in the shape of a flying kite on an open
site for tourists and local residents ( 2022).
5. Bridges in Danang

Son Tra Peninsula( there is a helicopter airport on the top of the mountain with enough space
for 16 fighting jets during Vietnam war,American used the jet for leading Aircraft to carry
the bombs from Guam or Thailand to bomb Hanoi).

*Nguyen Van Troi Bridge

This bridge, now called Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, was built by an US contractor RMK in
1965, apparently to serve the US war effort in Vietnam.

Numerous sources indicate that the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge was not previously given a
name. General knowledge sources claim that previous to 1975, Nguyen Van Troi Bridge was
known as Nguyen Hoang in honor of the first person to open the realm to the South
successfully.The bridge was named Nguyen Van Troi in honor of Quang Nam hero when the
country was united.

*Tran Thị Ly Bridge

Tran Thi Ly bridge was completed in 2013 to become the first cable-stayed suspension
bridge in Vietnam. Tran Thi Ly bridge is 731m long connecting the two banks of the Han
River.

The bridge was named after Vietnamese revolutionary activist Tran Thi Ly from Quang Nam
Province’s Dien Ban District, whose real name was Tran Thi Nham. She was a member of
the Viet Nam People’s Army and the South Viet Nam Liberation Army. During the past two
resistance wars, even though Miss Ly was brutally and inhumanely tortured in the prisons of
the invaders, she showed her indomitable spirit and admirable bravery, and she never
revealed any of Viet Nam’s revolutionary strategies and plans to the enemy.

*Dragon Bridge: ( 2013)


Introduction about Dragon Bridge with lenght of 666m, built for 10 years ago with 1500
lights on the Dragon.The Dragon with tails decoration with lotus flowers and the mouth hold
the pearl and head facing to the ocean or sun or moon means the properous.At 9.pm at Friday
and Weekend with Fire and Water Show means Lucky.

*Han River Bridge (Cầu Sông Hàn)

Da Nang is situated on the west side of the Han River and the beaches are situated to the east.
This bridge is the first bridge that Vietnamese architects as well as workers designed and
built. Was built by Da Nang locals, Da Nang holds a special place in the pride of Da Nang
people for their city. This bridge is a unique swing bridge to be established and it is also a
crucial part of the cityscape of Da Nang.
Among many Da Nang attractions, it is a symbol for the developing desire of the city. In the
middle night, all traffic is restricted to get from crossing this river and it swings on its axis to
let shipping traffic to pass by. It not only facilitates transport, but it also is a potential for
tourism and cultural spot of Da Nang people today

*Thuận Phước Bridge
(Vietnamese: Cầu Thuận Phước) is a suspension bridge that crosses the lower Han
River at Da Nang, Vietnam.
The four-lane, three-span, bridge is 1,850 meters long and 18 meters wide,[1] and has a main
span of 405 meters. Its two major pillars are 80m in height. It is the longest suspension
bridge in Vietnam, with total investment of nearly 1 trillion dong.[1] The bridge was built
with an estimated cost of VND 650 billion (about 42 million US dollars). Consulting firms
from China, Cuba and Canada provided assistance.
The construction of the bridge, which began in 2003, was completed on 19 July 2009 when
the Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung and many high-ranking government
officials attended the inauguration ceremony.

*Love Lock Bridge

The Love Lock Bridge Da Nang is the project of Yacht Wharf and Water Sports Club that
was funded by the DHC Marina JSC for the construction. Different couple prove their love
and togetherness by putting the lock with their names on the pier of the bridge. This was
made as one of the major attractions to attract young tourists from everywhere. The 6 meters
wide bridge is a 68 meters long arc in the middle of the river. Two meters wide foot path
allows the visitors to watch the beauty of Han river and catch some cool breeze. The Carp
images and octagonal concrete pillars are made in the railings of the bridge. You can clearly
see the inspiration of the bridge from some of the well-known beautiful love bridges of
France, Germany, Russia and Italy.

6. Asia Park ( Completed in 2014)

Aiming to commence a world-class amusement complex in Vietnam, Sun Group opted for
Danang – a coastal tourist city on the narrow Central swathe of Viet Nam to be the site of a
great amusement and entertainment park by the name of Asia Park.

Spanning a total area of 868,694sqm on the western bank of Han River, Asia Park
amusement park blends a string of unique and unseen features of entertainment models of the
world and a ubiquitous touch of Oriental culture. Asia Park comprises three main zones: a
modern outdoor park, a cultural park that consists of mini architectural works and artworks

Da Nang Cathedral (Da Nang Pink Church)

This tower is about 70 meters in height, with Gothic style. It was constructed by priest Louis
Vallet in 1923, and was the single church established in Da Nang by the French colonialists.

Da Nang Cathedral, or Pink Church Da Nang, is a famous tourist attraction in this Central
Vietnam city. It is the only church constructed when Vietnam was still under the control of
French colonialists. The cathedral is also one of the few examples of French architecture still
remaining in Da Nang.

There are many names for Da Nang Cathedral, including Tourane Church (used during the
French colonial period) and Sacred Heart Church of Jesus. To the locals, Da Nang Cathedral
is better known as “Rooster Church”. The name refers to the massive bell tower, which has a
weathercock in the shape of a rooster on top. Many people assume the rooster is a symbol of
France. In fact, it is a symbol associated with St. Peter's parable in the Gospel about
repentance and awakening.
