LISTENING
The Listening test is done in order from section 1 to 4 and is only listened to once.
 Section 1: Form Completion
 Section 2: Multiple Choice, Matching Information
 Section 3: Pick from a List, Matching Information, Multiple Choice
 Section 4: Note Completion
SECTION 1:
Form Completion ( Question 1 – 10)
 Question order: Listen the conversation between two people and fill in the
blank orderly, no need to jump to between questions.
 Step:
1. Maximum words: One word or a number per blank.
2. Look at the form and identify what types of word you need: Noun
(countable or uncountable) (Singular or Plural), Verb, Adverbs…
3. Look at the form and identify what type of information you need: Names,
Dates, Locations,…
Question 1: “Noun” and “Information source” (it may be: advertisement,
newpaper, friend, radio,…)
Question 2: “Proper noun” and “Place” (It may be: Central, Greenfield…)
Question 3: “Noun” and “Place” (It may be: park, library, shop, building,..)
Question 4: “Noun” and “Time” (It may be: morning, afternoon, evening,..)
Question 5: “Noun” and “Place” (It may be: wall, gate, bulding,…)
Question 6: “Noun” and “Price” (It may be: cost, estimate, details,…)
Question 7: “Proper Noun” and “Person’s name” (It may be: Edith,…)
Question 8: “Proper Noun” and “Place” (It may be: Oakwood,…)
Question 9: “Noun” and “Place” (It may be: Post Office, Park, Bank,…)
Question 10: “Noun” and “Time” (It may be: morning, afternoon, evening)
4. Make a quick note of any possible tricky words that could be related to the
blanks (ex: dates, company names).
5. Pay attention to pronunciation; some answer may be different in sound but
mean the same.
6. Some answer may be spelled (phone number, house number, street
names…) or pressing more than common.
SECTION 2:
Multiple choice: (Question 11 – 15)
 Question order: listen to a conversation or a monologue and answer multiple
choice questions based on what it said.
 This is Fact-finding
 Step:
1. Look at the multiple choice question and underline some keyword names, dates,
places, actions) in the options to help narrow down the possible answer.
Question 11: Keyword is “Port originally develop”
Question 12: Keyword is “sudden expansion”
Question 13: Keyword is “Why” and “Rocks sent away to be processed”
Question 14: Keyword is “Port declined”
Question 15: Keyword is “Manham Trust hope to do”
2. Look at the answer and underline some words that may appear in the audio, try
to think about some synonym words
3. Listen carefully and focusing who is saying what, as the answers might come
from different speakers.
4. Base on the opinion and the understanding, eliminate and choose the best
answer.
Table Completion: (Question 16 – 20)
 Question order: Listen and fill in the blank orderly
 Step:
1. Maximum words: no more than two words and/or a number
2. Look at the table and identify what is required to fill in the gaps: word form
(noun, verb,…), singular or plural, countable or uncountable.
3. Understand what necessary information is required: time, place, activity…
Question 16: “Noun” and Transportation (It may be: trains, trolleys,..)
Question 17: “Adjective” (It may be: dangerous, small,…)
Question 18: “Noun” (It may be: art, history, local culture, documents,…)
Question 19: “Noun” (It may be: tour, map, visit,…)
Question 20: “Noun” (It may be: Wheel, steering, rudder,…)
4. Listen the information line by line
5. Write down the answer but don’t forget the words limit
SECTION 3:
Pick from a list
 Question order: Listen and choose TWO out of FIVE answers
 Step:
1. Look at the multiple choice question and underline some keyword names,
dates, places, actions) in the options to help narrow down the possible
answer.
Question 21 and 22: Keyword is “Improve skills” and “Work placement”
Question 23 and 24: Keyword is “Company” and “Immediate benefits”
Question 25 to 30: Keyword is “Source of information” and “Stage of the
work placement”
2. Predict answers: Use logic or context to guess possible choices.
3. Exclude options that are not mentioned or don't fit the context and choose
the final answer.
Matching Information
1. Preview the question from 25 to 30 to understand the stages of the work
placement process.
2. Identify the information required for each stage:
Question 25: Requiring initial source of information (It may be: booklet,
guidelines,…)
Question 26: Requiring information from someone experienced about career
path.
Question 27: Requiring information about track progress or updates about the
placement.
Question 28: Requiring source of official information related to replying to
respond information.
Question 29: Requiring the outcome through official channel or manager
Question 30: Requiring reliable source to provide this information.
3. Listen carefully and match the correct of information to each stage.
4. Check the answer and make sure that there is no repetition of sources
SECTION 4:
Mutiple choice
 Question order: listen to a conversation or a monologue and answer multiple choice
questions based on what it said.
 This is Fact-finding
 Step:
1. Look at the multiple choice question and underline some keyword names, dates,
places, actions) in the options to help narrow down the possible answer.

Question 32: Keyword is “Speaker” and “nono-particles”
