CAUTIONS ON USING (WARNING)
WARNING!
THE CASES WHERE THE OPERATORS ARE LIABLE TO DEATH OR SEVERE INJURY IF WRONGLY
HANDLED
Don't modify the Product.
The Product, if modified, is unwarrantable.
Never allow other people to disassemble or to repair the Product than
those of your nearest Orion's distributor or the specialist.
Improper disassembling or repairing may result in bodily injuries due to malfunctioning,
electric shocks or a fire accident.
Never operate switches with wet hands.
Also avoid touching electric parts like power plug with wet hands. It will be the cause of
electric shocks.
Don't operate the Product with a cabinet opened.
Touching wrongly the inside of the Product may cause injuries or electric shocks.
Never scatter water on the Product or its machine chamber.
Or never wash it with water. It may cause electric shocks or a fire.
Never damage or modify the power cord.
The wire is damaged to result in electric shocks or a fire, if a heavy thing is placed on it, or
if it is heated, pulled or jammed.
Discharge the remaining air in the pressure vessel when to clean, service
or inspect the Product.
The compressed air, if remained in it, gushes out of it to cause injuries.
Caution when to reassemble the auto drain trap*
If the auto drain trap is not correctly reassembled after dismantling for cleaning, the auto
drain unit breaks loose and compressed air gushes out to cause injuries.
Securely reassemble it, following the instructions of "Inspections and maintenance".
*Auto drain trap or auto drain valve, and the former will be used in this manual from now on.
Consult your nearest Orion's distributor or a specialist when the leak
breaker operated.

SURELY OBSERVE THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR SAFETY
CAUTIONS ON USING (CAUTIONS)
CAUTIONS!
THE CASES WHERE THE OPERATORS ARE LIABLE TO BODILY INJURY OR MATERIAL DAMAGE
IF WRONGLY HANDLED
Don't put fingers, rods and others into the air outlet or inlet.
Since a fan is rotating at a high speed, injuries may be caused.
4
SURELY OBSERVE THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR SAFETY
CAUTIONS ON USING (POSITIONS OF CAUTION LABELS)
Caution label
Caution label
Caution label of CRX10D, 20D, 30D, 50D, 75D, 100D, 110D and CRX5HD, 10HD, 20HD, 30HD,
50HD, 75HD, 90HD is stuck on the upper cabinet.
WARNING!
Follow this Manual when you are removing the cabinet of the Product. And never operate it while the
cabinet is opened or uncovered. If the operator wrongly touches the inside of the machine, it may bring
about injuries or electric shocks to the operator.
CAUTION!
The applicable fluid to the Product is compressed air. If other fluid is applied to the Product than
compressed air, it will break to cause injuries or water may come out of the end of the air system.
5
1. Pay attention to use the Product within the applicable condition. If it is used in a condition out of the
designated one, it may cause damage of the Product.
Ambient temp(℃) 2 - 43
2. Frequent On and Off of the switch will lead to machine troubles. Be sure to restart the operation at
an interval longer than 3 minutes once it was stopped. Protective devices may work or refrigerating
compressor may be damaged, if restarted within 3 minutes.
3. Use the Product within the range of the allowable ambient temperature. If used below 2℃ , drained
water may freeze. If used above the highest allowable ambient temperature, the Product may stop
its operation, because the heat radiation effect of the condenser declines and protective devices
start working. In such a case, refer to "Troubleshooting and How to repair" (How to distinguish
machine troubles and abnormalities, and How to deal with them) on P.20.
4. Confirm which way the cooling air from condenser is discharged.
CRX180D : Cooling air enters from the right side and flows out of the rear-upper side.
Other models: Cooling air enters from the right side and flows out of the left side.
5. In case protective devices worked to stop operation, refer to "Troubleshooting and How to repair"
(How to distinguish machine troubles and abnormalities, and How to deal with them) on P.20.
6. Dehumidifying capacity may deteriorate if Air Dryer is directly connected with an air compressor,
because supersaturated drained water flows into it. This will also affect the drain trap of the
accessory, and water may come out of the end of the air system because its draining capacity
declines. Put a drain separator, air tank or others before an Air Dryer.
7. In case the Product is applied to a compressed air system where the pressure fluctuates
precipitately, put an air tank, etc. after the Air Dryer so to make the pressure fluctuation to be less
than 0.34 Mpa/min. Its sudden change may be a cause of machine troubles.
8. Make compressed air flow into the Product little by little. A sudden flow of air may lead to curling up
of draining water to the compressed air pipes after the Air Dryer or to the damage of inner parts of
the heat exchanger incorporated in the Air Dryer..
9. Attach a check valve to the outlet of an Air Dryer, if there is any possibility of reverse flow of
compressed air because of the conditions of air consumption at the ends of air system.
10. Operate an air valves or make use of a bypass circuit at air blowing during piping works of an air
system so as to avoid sudden change of pressure in an Air Dryer. Such abrupt change may be the
cause of damage of its inner parts.
11. CRX180D : Turn on electricity to CRX180D 12-hours before it is operated. A crank case heater is
incorporated in this air dryer to protect the refrigerant liquefied in the refrigeration compressor and
to make it start smoothly. Switch-on of CRX180D without turning on electricity 12-hours before its
operation, refrigeration compressor incorporated may damaged.

OPERATION
Method of operation
[Operation Procedure]
1. Slowly open the inlet valve (2) while checking the air pressure gauge of air dryer.
2. When the air pressure gauge of air dryer goes up, stop the valve operation once, and check the air
pressure gauge to go up slowly.
3. When the air pressure gauge of air dryer goes up to air tank pressure or air compressor setting
pressure, slowly open the inlet valve (2).
4. Operate the outlet valve (3) as same as procedure 1.
5. When the air pressure gauge of air dryer goes down, stop the valve operation once. When the air
pressure gauge slowly goes up again, slowly open the outlet valve (3).
11
Check the pointer of the gauge.
The gauge turns to be as following soon after the start of the operation.
Pressure gauge Normal state Abnormal state and the measure Models

(AIR PRESSURE) CRX10D 5HD.
(*1) Pointer of evaporating pressure gauge may not point within the green zone depending on ambient
temperature or condition of compressed air enters into the Product. It is not malfunction.
(*2) Pointer of condensing gauge may point lower than the green zone such as in the winter period. It is
not malfunction.
Method of stopping
1. Stop the operation of air compressors.
2. Press the operation switch "OFF".
3. Check that the operation lamp (Green) was turned off, and the operation was stopped.
Important
z Avoid frequent On and Off of the switch. It will result in machine troubles. Be sure to restart the
operation at an interval longer than 3 minutes once it was stopped. This is a necessary measure to
protect refrigerating compressors.
z Make compressed air flow into the Product little by little. A sudden flow of air may lead to curling up
of drained water to the compressed air pipes after the air dryer or to the damage of inner parts of the
heat exchanger.
z In case compressed air of high temperature and moisture flows soon after the start of the operation,
turn the operation switch on about 3 minutes prior to the flow, or moist air or water drops may come
out at the early stage of the operation.
z The fan repeats rotation and stops when the ambient temperature lowers but this is not a machine
trouble. It is for preventing the inside of a heat exchanger from freezing.

2. Place Air Dryers in a location where it is free from direct sunshine or from
effect by heat. The heat radiation effect of condensers declines, if shone
directly by the sun or affected by heat, and Air Dryers lower its performance.
3. Use Air Dryers ambient at the temperature of between 2deg.C and 43deg.C.
If used under 2deg.C, drained water may freeze and compressor may be
damaged. And wrap an auto drain trap and pipelines with an anti freezing
band (available on the market) as the right illustration shows, if there is any
possibility that the temperature lowers below 2deg.C. Attach the band,
following the instructions how to use them. Air Dryers may be damaged, if
the bands are wrongly used. The heat radiation effect of condensers lowers

PIPING WORKS
3. Prepare a "bypass valve (bypass circuit)" between the inlet and outlet of an Air Dryer. (Fig 2)
Bypass valve
Direction of air flow
Close
Outlet valve
Open Open
Inlet valve
4. Do the piping works so that an Air Dryer is not affected directly by the mass of pipes and
vibrations.
5. In case the air piping runs outdoors in a cold place, wrap the outdoor pipes with an insulator. And
wind the outdoor drain pipe with an anti freezing band.
(In the event that condensation takes place on the outlet pipe of an Air Dryer even indoors, cover it
with an insulator.)
35
METHOD OF DRAIN PIPING
1. Connection by piping
Install an open space between the drain outlet of the auto drain trap and drain pipe. If drain outlet of the
auto drain trap and drain pipe is directly connected, drain may not be discharged by back-pressure.
Important
z If the inlet and outlet of compressed air are connected mistakenly with air piping, the Air Dryers do
not only perform fully its capacity but also be damaged. Don't confuse the inlet with the outlet.
z In the event multiple Air Dryers are used abreast, make the air piping so to allow even flow of
compressed air into each Air Dryer. Consult your distributor or a plumber about the correct method of
piping.
z In case much scale may possibly generate in the piping because of use of oil free compressors, or in
the event much scale has already accumulated in it, put a line filter in front an Air Dryer.
z Use a globe valve or gate valve on air piping but a ball valve. If the valve is opened and closed
rapidly as with a ball valve, the drained water may curl up or inner parts of a heat exchanger may be
damaged.
z Pay full attention to prevent dust and other foreign matters from coming into the air piping during the
piping works.
z When you are replacing an auto drain trap, at first, close the ball valve to release the remaining
pressure in it, and then fasten the valve not to rotate, and lastly tighten the trap and screw it in.
36
z If Air Dryers are used in a surrounding of high moisture, there is the possibility that condensation
takes place on a ball valve or auto drain trap and floor gets wet with the drips. In such a case, cover
them with an insulator or prepare drain pans under them.
z Be sure to tighten the piping of inlet and outlet of air with 2 pipe wrenches.
z Attach a check valve to the outlet of an Air Dryer, if there is any possibility of reverse flow of
compressed air because of the conditions of air consumption at the ends of air system. The inner parts
of Air Dryer may be damaged if not with the check valve in the event the reverse flow takes place.
z Operate an air valves or make use of a bypass circuit at air blowing during construction of an air
system so as to avoid sudden change of pressure in an Air Dryer. Such abrupt change may be the
cause of damage of its inner parts

IN ORDER TO PREVENT TROUBLES CAUSED BY CORROSION!
TROUBLES CAUSED BY CORROSION
TROUBLES CAUSED BY CORROSION ARE OUT OF WARRANTY POLICY.
Copper tubes (Phosphorus deoxidation copper tube) are used for refrigerant gas pipes and inner pipes
of heat ex-changer of the Products. The refrigerant gas leaks to stop their operation and water comes
out of the outlet of Air Dryers, if holes are made in the copper tubes by corrosion. Copper materials are
also used for electric wires as a conductive material. If they are corroded, it will lead to machine troubles
that bring about such safety problems as electric shocks and so forth.
It becomes, therefore, very important to avoid placing the Products in environments where copper is apt
to be corroded in order to prevent troubles caused by corrosion. Condensing and drying are frequently
repeated on the tubes in a heat exchanger. So, if the air contains corrosive substances in it, they
condense themselves on the surface of copper piping and escalate its corrosion. Consequently it is very
important to pay full attention where to install Air Dryers as well as to the sucked air by compressors.
53
IN ORDER TO PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCKS CAUSED BY LEAKING!
Be sure to ground the Air Dryer.
Install a leak breaker so to meet the directions of Table 1.
The concrete examples of places where to install a leak breaker and the notes to be attended are as
following.
Table 1
Place of installation Indoors Beside a building
Outdoors Dump place
Voltage to ground Dry place Moist place Inside of rainfall Out of rainfall
○:Install a breaker.
▲:In case electric apparatuses are to be installed in a dwelling house, install a breaker.
[Note 2]
If there is any possibility that people touch the said machines from a place of worse conditions from
the electrical standpoint than those of the place where they are set up, presume that the machines are
installed in the worse place.
[Example]
Even though a machine is installed in a dry place, assume that it is installed in a moist place if there is
the risk that people touch it from a moist place.
