Preparation of Na2CO3 extract :
Na2CO3 extract of the given salt is prepared in the case of water insoluble salt. To
a small amount of the salt, twice the amount of Na2CO3 is added followed by 20 ml
of distilled water is added in a beaker and the solution is boiled for 10 - 15
minutes, cooled and then filtered. This filtrate is known as Na.CO3 extract. All wet
tests are performed using this.
