LONGAN PATTERNS

WOMEN : CARGO TROUSER

INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL
SIZES XS - 3XL (7 sizes)
HOW TO PRINT AND ASSEMBLE : For this pattern, you will need to print
and then cut the sides (on the rectangle lines) and tile them ac-
cording to the assembly guide.

HOW TO PRINT SPECIFIC SIZES :
If you want to print specific
sizes, you can click on the layers
(only in Adobe Reader) and uncheck
the sizes you don’t need.

PRINT SETTINGS :
The A4 and Letter
patterns can be
printed on either
type of paper, as
long as you’re
settings are on
100% scale and auto
or landscape for
your “orientation”
SIZE GUIDE : XS/0(US), S/2(US), M/4(US), L/6(US), XL/8(US), 2XL/10(US),
3XL/12(US)

SEAM ALLOWANCE : Use a 1cm seam allowance (already included in the pat-
tern) on everything. Before you start, you could over-lock every seams
for a clean finish.

SEWING LEVEL FOR THIS PATTERN: suitable for all sewing levels.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED :

- Any kind of non-stretch or slightly stretchy material such as a cotton


twill.
- 5” zipper
- 1 button for closure
INSTRUCTIONS: WOMEN CARGO TROUSERS

Prepare the zipper: For this part, I strongly suggest you watch the

STEP 1: Place the Zipper Fly,


right side facing, with the front
panel. Sew a 1cm line from top to
bottom. Place the zipper fly 1cm
above the front panel.

STEP 2: topsticth as close as pos-


sible on the zipper fly part, and
make sure the seam allowance is on
the zipper fly part.

STEP 3: Place the zipper's right


side on the right side of the
zipper fly and sew at 0.5cm,
aligning the other side of the
zipper to the topsticth line.

STEP 4: fold the fly inwards and


sew the mock fly in place. Make
sure you're not stitching the
zipper.

STEP 5: Prepare the fly box by
folding it in half toward the
wrong side and sew a 1cm line at
the bottom, trim, turn inside out
and finish the raw edge with your
preferred method.

sew at 0.3cm. Align both edge


together.

After step 7, you can


trim this part.

STEP 7: fold the


other front panel's
top edge 1cm inwards
(towards the wrong
side) and place it
over the zipper side
you just stitched
with the fly box. Sew
at 0.5cm.
STEP 8: Place the two front panels on
top of each other, right sides facing,
and stitch the "fork" of the panels at
1cm. This step might feel "uncomforta-
ble" as you may need to move the
fabric or snip the fabric a little
bit.

Prepare the side pockets *Note that both pockets facing are optional,
and only to be used if you're using different fabric for the pocket
bag’s. In the instructions below, we're not using the pocket facing.

STEP 9: Place the


pocket, right side
facing with the
front panel and
stitch a 1cm line
from top to bottom.
Turn the pocket to-
wards the back of
the front panel and
topsticth a 0.5
line on the open-
ing.

STEP 10: Fold the pocket in


half so it completes the
front piece and stitch the
top in place, the sides in
place and close the bottom of
the pocket with a 1cm line.

Repeat with the other side.


STEP 11: Sew the darts
in the back by follow-
ing the indication on
the pattern,

STEP 12: Sew the back


pocket. First, fold
the top 2cm inwards
twice and stitch in
place. Fold the re-
maining 4 edges 1cm
inwards and stitch
directly on the back
panel following
pocket placement on
the pattern.

STEP 13: Stitch at


1cm the back pieces
together. Clip the
curve of the seam and
press it open.
STEP 14: Place the
front with the back,
and right sides
facing and stitch at
1cm the sides. Press
open.

STEP 15: Stitch at


1cm the inseam line,
placing the front and
back together, right
side facing. Make
sure you align the
middle intersections.
Press open the seam.

STEP 16: Hem the legs opening by folding 1.5cm or 2cm inwards twice
and topsticth.

STEP 17: Prepare your 5 belt


loops. Fold in half, and fold
again, until you’re left with
a 1.5cm x 9cm rectangle and
topsticth.

STEP 18: Sew at 2cm the loop,


right side on the right side,
at the 2 front pleats, the
sides, and 1 at the center
back.
STEP 19: Sew 1 waistband (make
sure you leave 1 cm before the
beginning of the shorts), right
side on the right side, with the
shorts, going over the loops, at
1cm. Sew the side with the notch-
es.

STEP 20: Sandwich the loop with


the top of the waistband and the
other waistband piece and sew at
1cm. then topsticth the line with
the seam allowance towards the
bottom (under the loops).

STEP 21: Serge the other raw end of


the waistband or place binding, then
fold in half, right sides facing
with the other waistband, and sew a
line to create the corners. Clip
the excess (it's normal you have
excess) and turn it inside out.
STEP 22: Topsticth the waistband
from the right side to secure in
place the front and back
waistband. You will have to stop
before and after each loop.

STEP 23: Sew the


button of your choice
or place a snap.

Of course give your


garment a GOOD press
and you should be
finished!
