II. Rationale
In line with the national mandate to promote gender equality and inclusivity in all
educational institutions, the Gender and Development (GAD) Orientation
Workshop for Caniogan Valley Elementary School. S.Y. 2024-2025 is designed to
cultivate a more gender-responsive school environment. Schools play a crucial role
in shaping values and attitudes, making it essential to address gender biases,
stereotypes, and discrimination that may hinder equal opportunities for all learners
and educators. This workshop aims to raise awareness of gender-related issues,
empower participants with knowledge of GAD principles, and encourage the
integration of inclusive practices into teaching, policymaking, and community
engagement. By equipping faculty, staff, and students with a deeper understanding
of gender sensitivity, the program seeks to foster respect, equality, and
empowerment, ensuring that Caniogan Valley Elementary School remains a safe
and inclusive space for everyone.

Objectives: At the end of the activity, it is expected that the following will be
achieved:
Terminal Objectives
By the end of the GAD Orientation Workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Demonstrate Understanding – Explain key concepts, principles, and legal
foundations of Gender and Development (GAD), including gender sensitivity,
gender equality, and gender mainstreaming.
2. Analyze Gender Issues – Identify and critically assess gender-related
challenges in the school and community, proposing appropriate interventions
aligned with GAD principles.
3. Promote Inclusivity – Apply gender-responsive strategies in teaching, school
policies, and student engagement to foster an inclusive and gender-sensitive
learning environment.
4. Advocate for GAD – Develop an action plan that integrates gender equality
initiatives in school programs, policies, and classroom management practices.
5. Commit to GAD Implementation – Demonstrate a commitment to upholding
GAD principles by actively participating in gender-responsive activities and
promoting inclusivity in the school setting.
