Dear Parents.
I am writing to you today to make you aware of the upcoming
Year 9 exams on Thursday and Friday the 13 and 14 of
th th
February. During these days all Year 9 students will sit formal
exams in the sports Hall for the subjects that you see on the
attached exam timetable. This means that during these two
days the Year 9’s will be off timetable.
With the first year of GCSE fast approaching, it is vital that
the students get some experience of what a formal exam
setting is like in order to best prepare them for their upcoming
two years of study and to place an element of importance on
these exams. As well as this, these exams aim to provide the
students with an opportunity to put to use all of their hard
work and demonstrate their talents and capabilities.
Students have been working on a study skills programme once
a week for the last 4 weeks in order to get them into good
habits for revision and to best prepare them for these exams.
Their teachers have also drawn their attention to revision
resources that have been made available to them to use for
their revision. We also advise that students bring revision
resources with them into school during the exam days as they
may have the opportunity to revise in the exam hall whilst
others complete their exams.
As you can see from the timetable, morning lineups begin at
08:50 and to ensure that the exams run to time it is important
that all students arrive promptly to line up at the start of the
day. Of course, in the case of late buses or any unforeseen
circumstances, mitigations will be made.
If your child is entitled to Extra time you will see on the
timetable below that this has been factored into the timetable.
Once your child is into their extra time during an exam, please
can they use a different coloured pen/pencil for the remainder
of their exam time.
We please ask that where possible all students are in school
for these exams, but in cases where absence from school is
completely unavoidable your child’s classroom teacher will
find an appropriate time for them to sit their exams at another
time.
As always, we thank you as parents for your ongoing support
of the school. If you have any further questions regarding
these exams, then please email me at [email protected]
Kind Regards.
