FBC152/Assignment Questions

Question 1 (75 marks)


Objective:
Create a business presentation on any topic covered in your study guide for
the purpose of
educating colleagues and team members on the fundamentals of effective
business
communication. You must present this topic in a way that reflects your
personal understanding,
making it your own.
Instructions:
1. Presentation topic
Choose any topic from the study guide, but make sure you add your unique
insights and
understanding to the content. Some example topics from the guide include:
- Basics of effective communication
- Written communication
- Presentation skills
- Interpersonal communication
- Digital communication
- Cross-cultural communication
2. Format of submission
- Video presentation: Record yourself delivering the presentation (7–10
minutes). You may
do this virtually (with Zoom, for example) or physically, where a video is
taken of you
presenting your topic.
- Visual aids: You may create a simple PowerPoint or other visual aid to
accompany your
presentation. Ensure that the visuals are clear and visible during the
recording.
Submit both the video and the visual aid file via the online portal by the due
date.
Important: During Live Session 2, a demonstration on how to submit and upload
your files to
Canvas will be done by your lecturer. Please ensure that you attend this
session.
3. Presentation requirements:
- Introduction: Clearly introduce the chosen topic and the objectives of your
presentation.
- Body: Discuss the key points with clarity, ensuring that your ideas are well
structured and
supported with relevant examples or references.
- Conclusion: Summarise the presentation by reinforcing the main ideas and
providing a
clear conclusion.
The presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint) is not mandatory, if you do not
have access; a clear verbal presentation will suffice.
4. Tips for success:
- Practise your presentation to ensure a smooth delivery.
- Use examples from the study guide and your own experience to make the topic
more
relatable.
- Engage your audience by maintaining eye contact, varying your tone, and
using effective
pauses.

5 Uses creative examples or unique approaches to present the
topic. Visual aids (if used) enhance the presentation without
overwhelming it.
