Summary of Book Oliver Twist by CHARLES DICKENS
The book Oliver Twist is an expression of turbulence in a life of an orphan. By an orphan the
writer refers to the life of Oliver Twist a boy whose father remains unknown till the very end of
novel and his mother dies at the birth of time. The poor boy is sent to shelter home where he
is treated crucially for nine years of his early life. When he finally becomes old enough unfit for
that shelter home, he is handed to Mr. Bumble rather a very rude and brutal person to find a
suitable master for Oliver who is chained in captivation. After several cheap cost of Oliver, he
is finally given to Mr.Sowerberry who appears to be a man with hardness from outside and
politeness from inside. Oliver is said to be stay under command of another slave of his master
Noah who after some time begins to get jealous from Oliver because he receives more
appreciation from Master. When Oliver finally gives up in tolerating the badass behavior of
Noah and master's wife, he gathers the courage to run away from the house and ends up in
bad hands. Poor boy who finally gets a chance to breathe in freedom again gets the target of
blood thirsty people. Oliver by now is in London in one of its streets, in one of its homes of
most wanted criminals. The head a Jew Fagin, appears to be good towards Oliver. They try to
embrace the character of a criminal Oliver and one day sends him along the other two
teenager to comit theft and that appears to be a hard day for Oliver. The poor Oliver is blamed
for the crime and is headed to court where he faces many obstacles but finally his righteous
personality is justified by one of the spectators and so the boy who couldn’t tolerate the insult
loses his consciousness and is taken to the home of the person who was about to be weltered
by them and Mr. Brownlow take cares of him. A boy with no guardian is now a suspicious
person Infront Mr. Brownlow and his friend, so to test his loyalty they assign him a task which
he unfortunately fails to fulfill and again falls in the territory of Fagin where the next decision
of Fagin appears to be very revolutionary for him. Fagin is a very evil man with way more evil
friends. One of his offender Bill Sikes plans with him to do a robbery and the doer is decided to
be poor Oliver. So, off he goes with deadly dangerous Sikes. The robbery comes to an abrupt
end and again Oliver becomes the target of all blames. But this time victims are very down to
earth and so they keep Oliver as their own child. Oliver spends a very quality time with Rose
and Ms. Mailey unless when Nancy the wife of Bill Sikes very kind hearted person tired of the
filthiness of his husband discloses the suspiciousness about the Fagin, Sikes and Monks to Mr.
Brownlow who later on gets acquainted by the good nature of Oliver and becomes Ms. Mailey
neighbors. Mr. Brownlow without wasting anytime captures the clever claws Monks but
regretly Fagin gets aware about Nancys good deed and provokes Bill Sikes to attempt her
murder, so does the killer ends the life of her beloved loyal wife. Now the relation between
Monks and Oliver is uncovered by Mr. Brownlow who reveals the fact that he was Olivers
fathers' best friend and Monks is his stepbrother who has signed an agreement with Fagin that
if somehow, he gets Oliver out of his way, he would give some of the property to Fagin and his
fellow mates. But the late Nancy saves the life of Oliver and Sikes commit suicide and Fagin is
ordered to be publicly hanged. Rest of his friends are also imprisoned and Monks who is
forgiven by Oliver but doesn’t learn the lesson also dies. This is how Oliver becomes the owner
of a well-earned wealth and lives a tranquil life with Mr. Brownlow, Rose his aunt, Ms. Mailey,
Hary Mailey. Oliver now tends to enjoy a peaceful life justifying the statement that a beautiful
life has many thrones in its way.
