Applied Physics Lab (LAB-105) Spring 2025 7 (Amplitude and Freq. Measurement) 10

The document outlines Lab No. 7 for an Applied Physics course, focusing on measuring amplitude and frequency using a Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO) and Function Generator. It details the procedure for setting up the equipment, measuring waveforms for sine, square, and triangular waves at specified frequencies, and recording the results. Students are required to calculate and compare their findings with the Function Generator output and document their observations in a notebook.

Applied Physics Lab (LAB-105) Semester: Spring 2025

Lab No. 7 (Amplitude and Freq. measurement) Max Marks: 10

Experiment No. 7
To measure amplitude and frequency using Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO) and Function
Generator.
Equipment
Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO)
Function Generator
Procedure
1. Set the output of Function generator to frequency of 10 KHz with sine wave output.
2. Connect output of Function generator to input of CRO.
3. Observe the waveform and measure its amplitude and time period using CRO controls.
Calculate its amplitude and frequency and compare it with Function generator output.
4. Repeat the above steps for Square wave of 15 KHz and Triangular wave of 20 KHz.
5. Draw all three waveforms in your notebook.
Readings (on Graph Sheet)
Sine Wave ( 10 kHz)

Output obtained from Function generator: Amplitude ____ Volt , Frequency = ____ Hz

Display on CRO:
Amplitude Setting V/Div= ___ Reading = ____ Div Amplitude Calculated = _____ volts
Time base setting Time/Div = ___ Reading = ___Div
Time period (Calculated) = _____ sec Frequency (Calculated) = ___ Hz

Square Wave ( 15 kHz)

Output obtained from Function generator: Amplitude ____ Volt , Frequency = ____ Hz

Display on CRO:
Amplitude Setting V/Div= ___ Reading = ____ Div Amplitude Calculated = _____ volts
Time base setting Time/Div = ___ Reading = ___Div
Time period (Calculated) = _____ sec Frequency (Calculated) = ___ Hz

Triangular Wave ( 20 kHz)

Output obtained from Function generator: Amplitude ____ Volt , Frequency = ____ Hz

Display on CRO:
Amplitude Setting V/Div= ___ Reading = ____ Div Amplitude Calculated = _____ volts
Time base setting Time/Div = ___ Reading = ___Div
Time period (Calculated) = _____ sec Frequency (Calculated) = ___ Hz
