MESOAMERICA

- The word “meso”, means middle or gitna in tagalog

HEOGRAPIYA NG MESOAMERICA

- Kabihasnan ng Olmec
• Olmec means “rubber people”
• They have this game or ceremony called “pok-a-tok”, similar to sepaktakraw.
• Their God is a Jaguar.
- Kabihasnan ng Teotihuacan
• Teotihuacan means, “tirahan ng diyos”
• Their most precious God is Quetzalcoatl
• This kabihasnan went down because of fire.
- Kabihasnan ng Maya
• Located in Yucatan, Peninsula
• The built in pyramids ar ein the center of the whole region/lungsod.
• There are 4 social classes: Nobles and Priests, Workers: Warriors,
Craftsmen, and Traders, Farmersn(Magsasaka), Slaves (Alipin)
• They plant mais, patani, kalabasa, abokado, sili, pinya, papaya and cacao.
• They worship Gods that is involved in agriculture/pagtatanim, Tonsured
Maize God.
• The people in Maya are called, Mayans.
- Kabihasnan ng Aztec
• In 1200’s, one NOMADIK group lived in Mexico.
• The social classes in Aztec are, nobles, merchants, commoners, and slaves.
• Their advisor and leader is Tlacaelel.
• Their most important God is Huitzilopochtli, the God in war and the sign of
day/araw/sun.
• They also built temples where they worship and offer.
• It slowed down due to high tax charges.
