NEET has become mandatory to avail of medical seats in India.


So it has become one of the most competitive exams in India.
The highlights of NEET Exam Eligibility are as follows:

Candidates must have completed 17
Age Eligibility years as of December “Current Year”.
There is no upper age limit
Candidates must have passed their 10​th
& 12​th or any equivalent examination
with a minimum of 50% aggregate of

5. NEET Score Required For Medical Seat
To be able to get admission in a good Medical Colleges, you
need to score well in NEET examination and compete with other
NRI students to secure a medical seat.
Until last year in NEET, NRI students required ​339 marks out of
720 marks paper to be even eligible for NRI Quota. So, the
threshold mark is 339 or more in NEET examination to secure a
seat in a good Medical College in India.
You can apply for NRI seats in colleges, however obtaining an
admission depends on the Administration.
To qualify NEET you would need at least 50th percentile marks.

Q1. My son is studying in Kuwait and wants to pursue his further


studies in medicine. Is he restricted to 15% NRI Quota only?

Ans. ​Yes, he is eligible for the 15% NRI quota in NEET exam only.
and if he has a domicile of any state in India then he is also eligible
for 85% State quota.

Q2. If parents are NRI and child studied In India can he apply for
NEET NRI quota in MBBS admission?
Ans. ​Yes, if parents are NRI and can provide an NRI certificate from
Indian embassy of that country stating the NRI status. But the
student is eligible for All India Quota (AIQ) seats only, not in State
Quota seats.

Q3. What are the documents required from NRIs for NEET
admission through the NRI quota?
Ans.​ Following documents are required:
1. Self- signed and attested copy of your passport.
2. Copy of the residence card / residence sticker.
3. A letter (self - signed) of relation from his/her stating the
relation of with the person who wants NEET admission on
the NRI quota. In this letter he/she will also state how long
he/she is Living abroad.
4. Employment certificate
Q4. If I have applied for the NEET NRI quota, do I need to pay the
required fee for 4 years or 5 years? Also is the payment made in
one go or on a yearly basis?
Ans. They have to pay a fee for 4 years because the course is of 4
years followed by a one-year compulsory internship.

Q5. We are NRIs and currently our son is in IB Curriculum (Board)


should we shift to CBSE curriculum?
Ans. Practically there is no need to shift from IB to CBSE
curriculum here. The student can still write JEE / NEET / SAT and
much more effectively than CBSE student.

Q6. The student is studying abroad in Grade 8, will he be able to


apply for SC/ST reservations in Medical admission? Also, the
student plans to move to India from Grade 9 to continue his
schooling, will he still be considered in NRI quota?
Ans. There is no SC / ST quota for NRIs in NEET exam but
candidates can apply in NRI category if they are eligible. There is
an NRI quota in some government/ private medical colleges where
admission is on the basis of merit list in NEET-UG.
If the student plans to move to India from grade 9 to continue his
schooling, He will be considered as an NRI candidate.
Q7. My daughter wants to pursue medicine in a foreign university.
Does she have to appear for NEET?
Ans. Yes, NEET exam is mandatory for students now even for
foreign admission.

Q8. Are NRIs included in this MCI update? What is NEET eligibility
for IB students?
Ans. For MCI there is no difference between Indian and NRI
students. All are treated the same. It's the same as Indian
students. They need to take an extra one subject by applying as an
"​Extra Certificate​". For eligibility Physics, Chemistry and Biology or
Biotechnology is mandatory.

Q9. What subjects she must study in the IB DP program in order to


appear for NEET if required?
Ans. Science subjects are needed for sure which is Physics,
Chemistry and Biology. Additional subjects are needed if 2 Science
subjects are taken already.

Q10. Are NRI students eligible for government medical college


seats through the NEET exam?
Ans. ​Yes, NRI students are eligible for government medical
colleges. There are some states where NRI Quota is eligible in
