1. Introduction to Project
Airline reservation system project is an attempt to help the user to minimizing
paper workload and save time at the flight booking counter.
This airlines seat reservation system project is very user friendly. Any new
person having a little knowledge of window based system can run this vb
project without any pain. Almost all the problems of manual passenger
reservation have been removed by this new central reservation system.
Airline Reservation System (ARS) is a computerized system used to store and
retrieve information and conduct transactions related to air travel. The systems
was originally designed and operated by airlines, but were later extended for the
use of travel agents. Major ARS operations that book and sell tickets for
multiple airlines are known as Global Distribution Systems (GDS). Airlines
have divested most of their direct holdings to dedicated GDS companies, who
make their systems accessible to consumers through Internet gateways. Modern
GDSes typically allow users to book hotel rooms and rental cars as well as
airline tickets.
It is obvious that everything that is sustainable would have to go through
advancement. In science and technology, the desire for improvement is a
constant subject which triggers advancements. This is visible in every
ramification and the airline industry is not an exemption.
Airline Reservation Systems (ARS) used to be standalone systems. Each airline
had its own system, disconnected from other airlines or ticket agents, and usable
only by a designated number of airline employees. Travel agents in the 1970s
pushed for access to the airlines' systems. Today, air travel information is
linked, stored, and retrieved by a network of Computer Reservations Systems
(CRS), accessible by multiple airlines and travel agents. The global distribution
system (GDS) makes for an even larger web of airline information, not only
merging the buying and selling of tickets for multiple airlines, but also making
the systems accessible to consumers directly. GDS portals and gateways on the
Web allow consumers to purchase tickets directly, select seats, and even book
hotels and rental cars.
Existing Systems and Their Limitations:
The drawbacks of the existing system can be categorized as that of manual
system and a fully automated system.
Manual system:
The system is very time consuming and lazy. This system is more prone to
errors and sometimes the approach to various problems is unstructured.
Automated system:
With the advent of latest technology if we do not update our system then our
business result in losses gradually with time. The automated systems contain the
tools of latest trend i.e. computers, printers, fax, Internet etc. The systems with
this technology are very fast, accurate and user-friendly. But these systems
cannot be trusted in the case of security of the data and a supervisor is always
required to check the software for version updates and maintenance. But those
systems need to be updated on a regular basis so as to maintain the integrity.
2. Problem Formulation
Traditional airline booking systems face critical issues that hinder operational
efficiency. Some of these challenges include:
Key Issues
1. Delayed Booking Processes: Manual processes are time-consuming and
prone to errors.
2. Inefficient Data Management: Older systems often lack integration
capabilities, leading to fragmented data handling.
3. Customer Dissatisfaction: Non-intuitive interfaces and delayed updates
lead to poor user experiences.
4. Security Concerns: Outdated systems are more vulnerable to data
breaches, risking sensitive customer information.
Scope of the Project
The Airlines Reservation System will address these challenges by providing a
centralized platform with advanced features such as real-time updates, secure
payment processing, and user-friendly interfaces.
4. Objectives
The main objective of this project is to provide a modern, user-friendly platform
for managing airline ticket reservations. The system will allow customers to
access information about flights, compare fares, and book tickets conveniently.
Key features include the ability to search for flights, view flight details, and
handle bookings and cancellations seamlessly.
This computerised system is designed to address the drawbacks of traditional
manual systems. The proposed system offers numerous advantages over the
older methods, focusing on ease of use and personalization. It is built to be
intuitive, allowing even new users to navigate its features effortlessly. With
security as a key priority, the system ensures the safe handling of user data and
transactions. Overall, this solution simplifies the entire reservation process,
enabling users to perform tasks quickly and efficiently.

The primary objectives of the Airlines Reservation System are:

1. Automation of Processes: Minimize human intervention to reduce errors
and delays.
2. Real-Time Updates: Provide instant updates on flight schedules, seat
availability, and booking status.
3. Enhanced User Experience: Develop an intuitive interface accessible
across devices.
4. Secure Transactions: Integrate secure payment gateways with
encryption to safeguard customer data.
5. Operational Efficiency: Equip administrators with tools to manage
schedules, bookings, and analytics effectively.
6. Scalability: Ensure the system can accommodate growing user demands
and technological advancements.
Advantages of the Objective:
• Saves time of user.
• It keeps track of customer service details.
• Fast and accurate.
• Provide better service to the customer.

4. Feasibility Study
Technical Feasibility
1. Development Platform: Using Power Pages, the project leverages a
low-code environment that simplifies the development process.
2. Data Management: Integration with Microsoft Dataverse ensures
secure and efficient handling of flight schedules, user data, and bookings.
3. Security: Built-in security features of the Microsoft Power Platform
provide robust data protection.
Economic Feasibility
1. Cost Efficiency: The low-code nature of Power Pages reduces
development costs and time significantly.
2. Subscription Model: The platform’s subscription pricing minimizes
upfront expenses.
3. Long-Term Savings: Automation reduces operational costs associated
with manual booking processes.
Operational Feasibility
1. Ease of Use: The intuitive design ensures that both customers and airline
staff can use the system with minimal training.
2. Efficiency: Real-time updates and automation improve overall
operational efficiency.
3. Maintenance: Regular updates and minimal hardware requirements
ensure long-term sustainability.
