PolyJet Print-Head Claim Procedure
Dear Customer,
This document describes the procedure for making a claim on a PolyJet print head according to your printer
service plan, and consists of these steps:
1. checking that the print head needs to be replaced
2. contacting your service provider and obtaining verbal approval to replace the print head
3. replacing the print head
4. submitting a completed checklist to your service provider
Details of the tasks described below can be found in the user guide.
Bef ore replacing a print head, make sure that you have a new print head in stock.
Print Head Test
For Desktop printers:
1. Run the Wiper Cleaning wizard.
This ensures the accuracy of the Head Optimization wizard results.
2. Run the ReInitiate wizard.
This clears the print-head nozzles.
3. Run the Head Optimization wizard.
This determines whether or not the print heads are f aulty.
4. If the wizard results are good, print a model and check its quality.
5. If the print quality is not good, contact your service provider.
For J5/J3 Series printers:
1. Run the Routine Cleaning wizard.
This ensures that the results of the Head Optimization are accurate.
2. Run the Head Purging wizard twice.
This clears the print-head nozzles.
3. Run the Advanced Head Optimization wizard.
4. If the wizard results are good, run the Pattern Test. Select the Advanced printing diagnostics option,
and print a Dynamic Nozzle Test with roller.
5. If the print quality is not good, contact your service provider.
For other PolyJet printers:
1. Clean the wiper.
This ensures that the results of the Head Optimization wizard or the Head Calibration Utility are accurate.
2. Execute two purge sequences (F4).
This clears the print-head nozzles.
3. Clean the print head.
This ensures that the results of the Head Optimization wizard or the Head Calibration Utility are accurate.
4. From the printer’s Option’s menu, open Built-In Tests and select these tests:
• Parameter Sanity Check
This ensures that the correct printer parameters are set.
• Head/Block Heaters
This ensures that the heaters are functioning properly.
• Head Voltages
This ensures that the head voltages are within the specified tolerance.
• System Voltages
This ensures that all printer voltages are within the specified tolerance.

• Block Filling
This ensures that the block-filling sequence is functioning properly.
• Vacuum Test
This ensures that the vacuum levels are within the specified tolerance.
5. Run the Head Optimization wizard or the Head Calibration Utility.
6. For J7™/J8™ Series printers, run the Dynamic Nozzle Test.
7. If the results are good, print a model and check its quality.
8. If the print quality is not good, contact your service provider.
Print Head Replacement
1. Contact your service provider and confirm that the print head needs to be replaced.
2. Record the serial number of the new print head.
Note: The serial number is located on the ribbon cable.
3. Replace the f aulty print head as described in the user guide.
4. Record the serial number of the faulty print head.
5. Check the print quality.
Important: If the print quality has not improved, contact your service provider.
6. Complete the short form on the next page and email it to your service provider.
