GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR SETTING THE QUESTION PAPER
1. Weightage of marks for every chapter should be calculated by multiplying number of teaching hours with 0.875. The total marks
should not exceed 105.
2. The question paper should be prepared on the basis of blueprint following the weightage of marks for each chapter. The questions
should be framed to check the specific cognitive level as mentioned in the blueprint.
3. Questions should be clear, unambiguous, understandable and free from grammatical errors.
4. Questions which are based on the same concept, law, fact etc. and which generate the same answer should not be repeated under
different forms (MCQ, FIB, VSA, LA and NP).
5. The answers for the questions should be available in the prescribed text book or can be derived from the concepts of text book
prescribed for that academic year for remember/understand/apply/HOTS questions.
6. In PART – A (I main), MCQ should not involve mathematical calculations. Only 3 MCQs should be from HOTS.
7. In PART – B and C, (III and IV main) only one numerical problem should be asked in each part. They should not be asked from the
chapter from which 5 marks numerical problem is set.
8. In PART – D (V main) maximum of two split questions should be asked.
9. When a question carrying 3 or 5 marks is split, the sub questions should be derived from the same concept or different concepts of
the same chapter.
10. In PART – D (VI main), only one 5 marks numerical problem should be set from chapters corresponding to a pair of consecutive
units like I & II, III & IV, V & VI, VII & VIII, IX & X. Three numerical problems should be from HOTS.

GENERAL GUIDE LINES:
1. Questions should not be vague and ambiguous. Answers or concept should be available in the prescribed NCERT text book
or based on the contents in the prescribed text book.
2. Intermixing of questions of different units is not allowed. 5 marks question may be framed as (3+2) as far as possible.
3. Avoid questions from:
a. Drawings involving 3D diagrams
b. The boxed materials with deep yellow bar in the text book are to bring additional life to the topic and are non-evaluative.
4. Questions on numerical data given in the form of appendix, numbered tables containing experimental data and life history of
scientists given in the chapters should be avoided.
5. Frame the questions in such a way to strictly avoid ½ mark evaluation (or avoid value points for ½ marks.).
6. While framing Physical chemistry units (Unit 1, 2 & 3) questions for Part -A, B and C should not be Numerical problems. The
Numerical Problems of these Units should be framed only in Part-E. This division is done to make for the students to learn and
attempt to solve the Numerical Problems.
7. Application and HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) questions can be selected from any chapter without changing the weightage of the
chapter.

Quality & Length of the Question Paper
1.While framing a question, the time required to solve it should be decided

properly and the marks should be awarded accordingly.

2.Marks allotted for each question should be properly mentioned in the question

paper.

General Instructions:
1.Question paper should be prepared by preparing separate blueprint by keeping the

weightage of marks allotted to each chapter in mind.

2. Weightage allotted to each topic cannot be changed but the question setter has the

liberty to choose the question type as per instructions given.

4. Miscellaneous worked examples and exercise problems can also be included in the

textbook.

8.Questions should not be split into subdivisions.

9.Questions should be clear, unambiguous, understandable and all unwanted data in

the questions should be avoided.

10.Instructions to use graph sheet in linear programming problem should be given in

the question paper.

11.Repetition of the same concepts, laws, facts etc. which generate the

same concept in different parts of the question paper should be avoided.

12. In MCQ section, stimulus questions, comprehensive, identifying the true or false
statements should be asked but then should not exceed three questions.

13. Six numerical options should be given for the five Fill in the blanks questions.

14.Questions for Part D should be given from the following 7 specific topics only.

i). RELATIONS AND FUNCTIONS

ii). MATRICES
iii). DETERMINANTS
iv). CONTINUITY AND DIFFERENTIABILITY
v). INTEGRALS
vi). APPLICATION OF INTEGRALS
vii). DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

15.Questions for Part E should be given from the following 4 specific topics only.

(Both Six marks and Four marks questions should have internal choice.)

i). INTEGRALS
ii). LINEAR PROGRAMMING
iii). CONTINUITY AND DIFFERENTIABILITY
iv). DETERMINANTS
