*The Fleet Manager must authorise any reduction in the criteria after evaluating appropriate methods to mitigate the risk – a form SAF03 should be used for that purpose.
This includes evaluating previous ship type experience for officers wishing to cross-train on different ships type.

NB: The Master and Chief Officer cannot be offsigned simultaneously – minimum 2 weeks between joining dates.
The Chief Engineer and Second Engineer cannot be offsigned simultaneously – 2 weeks between joining dates.
If junior deck officers need to be changed at the same time, the handover period of junior deck officers must be a minimum of 24 hours.
If junior engineer officers need to be changed at the same time, the handover period of junior engineers must be a minimum of 24 hours.

N.B: A new hire officer must sail in their existing rank and be formally appraised before consideration is given for promotion to a senior officer position.
