Title: New Skipper130 tooling procedure

(ref.: introduction of new safety devices)

Rev: 1.0
Date: 17/03/2016
Issued by: umancini

Following introduction of the safety micro on the machine's lower and upper head cover, it has been
necessary to modify the upper head tooling procedure.
The modification involved both the plc and the electrical part.

 OLD PROCEDURE:
Accessing MANUAL MOVEMENTS and turning the upper head selector caused the head cover to rise,
pneumatically commanded by the plc.
Once tooling was completed and the selector returned to the rest position, powering up the machine (using
STOP-RESET) meant that the cover was commanded back to the down position.

 NEW PROCEDURE:
It is still necessary to access MANUAL MOVEMENTS and turn the upper head tooling selector, but to raise
the cover it is necessary to use a new button on the Softconsole, the one highlighted in red in the image
below.

The button can be used to command the cover to both positions (up and down), but it only works if:
1) MANUAL MOVEMENTS is selected
2) The upper head tooling selector (the first of the 2 starting from the left) is active
3) The contact mats are NOT occupied.

It is therefore important to remember that once tooling has been completed, to command the cover to the
rest position it is first necessary to restore the contact mat control unit (the input I.21 must be 1) by
pressing the white ON button.
To ensure that the plc does not command the cover when the contact mats in front of the machine have
been occupied, an electrical modification has been made that also makes the loading contact mats input
I.12 drop when the contact mats in front of the machine are occupied.

The machine on which these modifications have been made and on which the operating tests have been
carried out is the Skipper 130 serial number 9488 (machine with loading pallet).
On the same machine it has also been necessary to install NC service pack 12 to avoid the appearance of
the screen DOS : RT I/O Console 0x5168 – NodeA: Finished
 Cannot handle memory-mapped I/O just now…
