Reason for Admission: The patient was admitted to Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi, following a motorcycle accident that resulted in a closed fracture of the left femur.

Course of Treatment: Upon admission, the patient underwent a comprehensive evaluation including radiographic imaging, which confirmed a displaced fracture of the
left femur. An emergency surgery was performed for open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) to stabilize the fracture. The patient was then admitted to the orthopedic
ward for postoperative care. Over the course of her hospital stay, Ms. Nyabuto received the following treatments and interventions:

Postoperative pain management with analgesics and anti-inflammatory medications

Physical therapy and rehabilitation to regain strength and mobility in the left leg

Regular wound care and monitoring for signs of infection

Psychological support and counseling for post-traumatic stress symptoms

Comprehensive evaluation and support for paraplegia

Hospital Course: The patient's recovery progressed as expected. Initial postoperative pain and limited mobility gradually improved with ongoing physical therapy. The
patient demonstrated steady progress in regaining range of motion and weight-bearing capacity in the left leg. No signs of infection or other complications were noted
during the hospital stay.

Discharge Plan: The patient is being discharged in stable condition with the following instructions:

Continue physical therapy on an outpatient basis as prescribed, Follow up with the orthopedic surgeon in 4 weeks for reevaluation

Take prescribed medications as directed, Maintain a balanced diet and adequate hydration to support healing Avoid high-impact activities and follow weight-bearing

restrictions as advised Continue to receive support and rehabilitation for paraplegia management

Paracetamol 500 mg tablets, every 6 hours as needed for pain

Ibuprofen 400 mg tablets, every 8 hours with food for inflammation and pain

Amoxicillin 500 mg capsules, every 8 hours for 7 days to prevent infection

Calcium Supplements 500 mg tablets, once daily to support bone healing

Vitamin D3 1000 IU capsules, once daily to aid in calcium absorption and bone health

Laxatives and stool softeners as needed to prevent constipation due to limited mobility
