1 Pre-operation

1. Fit the water chamber to the


unit by pressing down the
finger guard and sliding the
chamber.

⚠ Warnings
Do not touch the heater plate,
water chamber or chamber
base during or immediately
after use.

2. Connect a sterile water bag to


the water chamber, the
chamber will automatically fill
to the required level.

3. Connect the heated breathing


tube to the unit. Push the blue
plastic sleeve down to lock.

3 Starting therapy
1. Plug the unit’s power cord
into the main power supply.
Switch on the unit by pressing
the On/Off button for 5 secs.

2. The unit will show you the


disinfection status (only use
on a new patient if you see
green light).

⚠ Warnings
It is NOT safe for use
on a new patient.

3. The unit will begin to warm


up, the numbers showing
temperature, flow and oxygen
values will pulse until they
reach their target settings.

4. Connect the patient interface


to the heated breathing tube
when the see the “Ready for
use” symbol.

4 Configuration
1. Press the Mode button to view
target settings. These settings
are locked by default.

2. Hold the Up and Down button


for 3 secs to “unlock” the
setting.

3. Press the Up and Down


buttons to choose the new
setting.

4. When you have finished,


press the Mode button to
“lock” the setting again.

5. Connect oxygen source to the


unit, oxygen level is adjusted
from the oxygen source.

5 Junior mode

❏ Junior mode must be activated if using Optiflow


Junior nasal cannula (OPT316 / OPT318).

❏ To activate Junior mode, hold the Mode button for 5


secs. The colorful animal icons in the corner
indicated that this unit is in Junior mode.

❏ Junior mode limits the target settings to: 34°C and


2 - 25 L/min.

❏ To deactivate Junior mode, hold the Mode button


for 5 secs.

6 Disinfection
1. Connect the red end of the
disinfection tube to the
left-hand chamber port.

2. Fit the blue filter to the


right-hand chamber port.

3. Start the disinfection cycle by


holding the On/Off button for
3 secs, the disinfection cycle
will start and run for 55 mins.

⚠ Warnings
Disconnect any oxygen
supply beforehand.

4. When the display reaches


zero, switch off and unplug
the unit. Store the unit in bag
or keep the disinfection tube
attached for next patient use.

7 Maintenance

If the unit tells you that a filter


change is due:

1. Take the filter holder from the


back of the unit and remove.

2. Replace the old filter with a


new one.
