QUESTION ONE
a) Solve the logarithmic equation

b) Find the value of 𝑘 if 𝑥 + 2 is a factor of 𝑥 3 − 𝑘𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 7𝑘 [5 marks]
c) Find the sum of the geometric series

d) There is a stack of logs in the backyard of a certain house. If there are 30 logs in the 1𝑠𝑡 layer,

(i) How many layers are on the stack. [2 marks]
