Executive Summary:
Air purifiers are highly effective devices that can help improve the indoor air quality of
homes and other indoor spaces. They work by removing pollutants such as dust, smoke,
allergens, and harmful chemicals from the air through their multiple filters. Our air purifier's key
features include its HEPA filter, and activated carbon filter, all working together to remove a wide
range of airborne pollutants.
Our Air purifiers offer several benefits, including reducing the risks of respiratory
problems and allergies associated with poor air quality, promoting a cleaner, healthier living
environment, and relieving those with compromised immune systems. It can also be tailored to
specific needs, such as removing pet hair and dander or eliminating odors from cooking or
smoking.
It is suitable for use in a variety of indoor settings, including homes, offices, hospitals, and
other indoor spaces. They are also becoming more energy-efficient, user-friendly, and
cost-effective, making them a worthwhile investment in overall health and well-being.
Introduction:
An air purifier is a device that is designed to clean the air by removing pollutants such
as dust, smoke, allergens, and other harmful substances from the indoor environment. The air
purifier works by drawing in air from the surrounding environment, passing it through one or
more filters, and then releasing the purified air back into the room. The filters used in this air
purifier are a HEPA filter and an activated carbon filter. The HEPA filter captures smaller
particles like pollen and mold spores, and the activated carbon filter removes odors and
chemical fumes. This Air purifier is designed for homes, offices, and other indoor spaces to help
improve indoor air quality and promote a cleaner, healthier environment.

Project Scope:
It is a reliable product. It completes all the general requirements of an air purifier like
size (320*160*360mm) and shape (box-like). This air purifier has filtration layers
(Activated Carbon Filter + High-Efficiency HEPA Filter) and can cover up to 360 sq ft
area in very minimum time and has a power consumption of 10-50W at a very
affordable price.
Technical Specifications:
1. Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR): CADR is a rating that measures the air cleaning
efficiency of an air purifier. It refers to the amount of clean air that an air purifier can
deliver in cubic feet per minute (CFM). It has a CADR rating of 360-400 means the air
purifier can clean the air quickly and efficiently. It can clean a 33-40 sq m area in an
hour.
2. Room size coverage: The room size coverage of an air purifier refers to the maximum
room size that the air purifier can effectively clean the air. The filtration size coverage of
an air purifier depends on the type of filter used in the air purifier. We are using a HEPA
filter, which stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air filter. HEPA filters are designed to
capture particles as small as 0.3 microns with an efficiency of 99.97%.
The coverage of an air purifier with a HEPA filter depends on its CADR rating (Clean Air
Delivery Rate). The CADR rating refers to the amount of clean air that the air purifier can
deliver per minute. This air purifier with a CADR rating of 360 can clean the air in a room
of up to 360 square feet effectively.
In general, the coverage of an air purifier with a HEPA filter ranges from 100 to 500
square feet. However, it is important to note that factors such as the height of the room,
the number of pollutants, and the frequency of opening and closing doors can affect the
coverage area of the air purifier.
Activated carbon filters are effective in removing odors and harmful gasses, but they
have very limited efficacy in terms of capturing small particles.
3. Filter types: This air purifier contains filters like HEPA and activated Carbon. HEPA filters
are more effective in removing smaller particles and are commonly used in air purifiers.
Activated carbon filters are great for eliminating odors and VOCs.
4. Noise level: The noise level of an air purifier is usually measured in decibels (dB). Lower
dB ratings indicate quieter air purifiers, which may be more suitable for areas where
noise levels need to be minimized. The noise level of a brushless DC motor in an air
purifier can vary depending on the power and speed of the motor. Brushless DC motors
are quieter than brushed DC motors as they do not have brushes that create friction and
noise.
This air purifier has brushless DC motors that have noise levels that range from 30 dB to
45 dB. The noise level of an air purifier with a brushless DC motor can also depend on
the speed at which the motor is running. Higher speeds may result in higher noise levels,
while lower speeds may produce less noise.
5. Power consumption: The power consumption of an air purifier refers to the amount of
electricity it uses. The power consumption depends on the fan speed. This air purifier
with a brushless DC motor is more energy-efficient than brushed motors. The power
consumption of an air purifier with HEPA and carbon filters and a brushless DC motor
can range from 10 watts to 50 watts.
6. Maintenance requirements: Air purifiers require regular maintenance, including filter
replacements and cleaning. Understanding maintenance requirements is important to
ensure efficient operation and to prevent the build-up of dirt, dust, and other
contaminants that may reduce the performance of an air purifier.
● Filter replacement: The filters in the air purifier need to be replaced regularly to
ensure that they continue to effectively remove pollutants from the air. HEPA
filters typically last for around 6 to 12 months, while carbon filters may last for 3 to
6 months.
● Cleaning: The interior and exterior of the air purifier may need to be cleaned
periodically to prevent the buildup of dust and other particles. The cleaning
process may involve wiping down the surfaces with a damp cloth or vacuuming
with a soft brush attachment.
● Motor maintenance: The brushless DC motor in the air purifier may require
occasional maintenance, such as lubrication or cleaning of the fan blades.
● Air purifier placement: It is important to place the air purifier in an appropriate
location, away from walls and furniture, to ensure optimal airflow and
performance.

Working Principle:
Air Purifier works by drawing in air from the surrounding environment and passing it
through a series of filters before releasing clean air back into the room.
● HEPA filter: The air then passes through a HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter,
which is designed to capture particles as small as 0.3 microns, including allergens,
bacteria, and viruses. The HEPA filter traps these small particles by using a dense mesh
of tiny fibers, which creates a maze-like path for the air to travel through.
● Carbon filter: The air then passes through a carbon filter, which helps to remove odors
and gasses from the air. The activated carbon in the filter absorbs molecules such as
smoke, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and household chemicals.
● Brushless DC motor: The air is then channeled through the air purifier using a brushless
DC motor, which is energy-efficient and helps to produce a strong airflow without
creating excess noise.
● Release of clean air: Once the air has passed through the filters, it is released back into
the room as clean air.
Environmental Impact Assessment: Excel Sheet
Risk Analysis:
To mitigate technical risks, we can take measures such as conducting thorough testing
of prototypes, closely monitoring the performance of the HEPA and carbon filters, and testing
the reliability of the brushless DC motor and can also consider partnering with a technical expert
and building a strong R&D(Refine and development) team to develop and refine the product
design.
Supply Chain Risks: We can use multiple suppliers for the critical components of the air
purifier, monitor pricing fluctuations, and quality of the materials required, closely track inventory
levels, and streamline the manufacturing process.
We can mitigate manufacturing risks by conducting quality reviews of all components
before and at all stages of production. Implementing quality control measures in the
manufacturing process can also help reduce the chances of errors and defects.
Conclusion:
This air purifier is a highly effective device in improving indoor air quality and
promoting a healthier living environment. With its ability to remove pollutants such as dust,
smoke, allergens, and harmful chemicals from the air, air purifiers can help reduce the risks of
respiratory problems and allergies associated with poor air quality. Furthermore, it can be used
in a variety of indoor spaces including homes, and offices, making them accessible and
beneficial to a wider range of people. With the advancements in technology, it is more
energy-efficient, user-friendly, and cost-effective, making it a worthwhile investment in overall
health and well-being.
