3. How did the author describe the pain of a smitten love?

4. How did the author rationalize her experience in the end?

5. Give your own perception about love. What is love?

Answers:

1. The Author’s perception of love was indeed a lot and a bit complicated. At first, Grace’s feelings about
thought of love was a bit inferior. Often laughing at her friends for having, obsessing and loving their
crushes. But she praised on the thought that her friends and other people would go and do creative
things just to ponder about their loved ones. For me she was kind of acting a bit naively about the topic.
She said to herself that she wouldn’t be fooled by these type of things, even though she hadn’t even
experienced it. Until she experienced it herself, she experienced the things that she was laughing and
acting so naively a while ago.

2. Grace Cruz described the feeling as a sort of a romantic kind of way or a energetic kind of way. She
couldn’t speak properly, she couldn’t even control herself after meeting her crush. Often looking at him,
when he was not looking, thus showing the pure wonder in her eyes to her crush.

3. Grace’s description of her pain was indeed painful to hear or read. She compared the pain to a pinch
at the heart that no one could explain. Her feeling that brought her to cloud nine, suddenly crashed like
the blowing torrents of the Typhoon Yolanda, which was one of the most powerful Typhoons here at the
Philippines, thus showing that her first smitten love or heartbreak was indeed very painful, but a type of
pain that is indescribable or incomparable.

4. Grace composed herself, she took a single deep breath, and then she checked if her limbs are still
intact or in place. She thought to herself that she should not let this make her feel down in any other
way. Then she simply stood up and quickly walked her way past them, not giving any care at all, saying
to herself that she was too young to fall in love.

5. For me love is something special, you could give love to anything! Your family, friends, crushes,
hobbies and even things. For me love is something that you sometimes give, and you sometimes take. In
terms of loving that special someone, You would do anything just for that person, sacrificing things for
that person’s sake is a factor, both of you always available to help each other, within good times and
bad times; still there for each other. In my opinion, risking one’s life is a way to show one’s love. I or you
would do anything just to keep your loved one/s safe. But for now the things I would love are the things
that are right for me. Just family and friends, even hobbies; since I am too young and inexperienced
about life, If I start to admire someone at this age, I would let them go. I would just be a burden for that
person, I would end with one of my favorite quotes which is “The beauty of a flower should be
appreciated as it naturally grows, without taking it away by picking it.” – Anonymous.
