ATTENTION!
It is recommended to use the designated SFPs supplied by NEC for use in
iPASOLINK VR 2. NEC does not guarantee the performances of iPASOLINK if
other vendors’ SFP modules are installed.
1) Single Mode Fiber (SMF): This SFP complies with 1000BASE-LX Ethernet
Interface. The SFP operates with the 1310 nm laser transmitter and has a
duplex LC connector.
2) Multi Mode Fiber (MMF): This SFP complies with 1000 BASE-SX Ethernet
Interface. The SFP operates with the 850 nm laser transmitter and has a duplex
LC connector.
3) Electrical SFP (RJ45): This SFP complies with 10/100/1000 BASE-T copper
interface.
4) Electrical SFP (DIN 1.0/2.3): This SFP complies with STM-1e SDH interface.
The SFP modules also accept LC fiber connectors with Polished Connector (LC-PC)
or Ultra Polished Connector (LC-UPC).
1. Mount an SFP module into the SFP port until it clicks and is completely
seated.

CAUTION:
Tighten the TNC-Male Connector of IF
IDU Cable on the IDU IF Port with fingers. To
tighten the connection, hold the plug head
while holding the cable by the other hand.

NOTE: For the use of the L-Shape Plug, following precautions should be read and be
fully understood to prevent connectors from being damaged.
(1) Protect the joint of plug and cable by wrapping the vinyl tape around:
It is strongly recommended to wrap vinyl tape around the joint of the plug and cable for
the IF Cable terminated with the L-Shaped Plug. See below:
PLUG BODY 1. Wrap the tape for one to 1.5 times carefully around
the joint from the starting point as shown at the left
start here photograph.
NOTE: Ensure not to twist the cable against the plug
while wrapping the joint.
CABLE
20 mm wide tape
is recommended.
2. Keep wrapping till the tape reaches midway up the
middle of the plug. See Step 4. below for the
measurements.
3. Tightly wrap the tape around the joint for more than
four or five times pressing the tape by fingers.

CAUTIONS:
1. Ensure to install ODU(s) within the area protected by lightning rod.
2. To avoid surge currents caused by lightning circulating in the equipment
earth system, connect the equipment earth system (frame ground) to the
ground of the lightning rod at the ground level.

5.3.2 IF Cables
Up to tow IF Ports are provided on the IDU of iPASOLINK VR 2. The illustration below
uses the Main Card whose card type is MC-SV as an example.
IF Cable(s) should be routed to/from the left side of the IDU, then to/from the rack top.
CAUTION:
Use four 16-20 AWG twisted pair wires to assemble the Power
Supply Cable. The plugging slots of the PWR Terminal (Power Input
Connector) should be fully used by the Power Supply Cable’s plug
pins. Leaving (a) vacant plugging slot(s) may damage the PWR
Terminal due to the overcurrent.

WARNING:
Do not turn off the power until the start-up process is complete.
Repeated turning the power on and off within a short interval may
cause the equipment failure.
6.1.2.1 Preparation
Followings should be considered for the data to be used for this function:
The Configuration file with no NE Name can be applied for either system with or
without an NE Name.
If Configuration data of multiple NEs are stored in the USB memory device, the
data with the identical NE Name (including no name) to that of the connected
equipment will be uploaded.
Followings show their file paths when the storage is USB memory device:
evo-equip.cfg
No Name /config/ evo-equip.cfg
Network Configuration Data Registered /config/ <NE Name>-evo-network.cfg
evo-network.cfg
No Name /config/ evo-network.cfg
User Configuration Data Registered /config/ <NE Name>-evo-user.cfg

3. Plug in the USB memory device to the USB Port on the equipment.
1. Powering off the power unit or power injector shuts down iPASOLINK VR.
