1. Overview

“Mars JC8” is a 32-bit PC VST plug-in is intended to


sound identical to the various versions of a stock Marshall
JCM800 amplifier.
The reference tone was retrieved using SPICE schematics
simulation software. The special test tone was created to
examine how the circuit reacts to the signal in almost any
expected case and beyond its intended working range. Then the
amplifier simulator was made by comparing the same DI track
that was fed into SPICE to the retrieved digital effect by “trial
and error” method while setting up the specially invented
algebraic harmonic generation system.
To get even more realistic sound throughout the building,
the plug-in tone had always been compared to the recordings of
the real amp.
The plug-in comes in two versions:
1) Demo with limited functionality and unlimited usage time;
intended to demonstrate the plug-in.
2) Registered user version without restrictions.

2. Installation

Mars JC8 is a Windows (PC) VST 32-bit plug-in. This


means you will need a 32 or 64-bit digital audio workstation
(DAW). If your DAW runs 64-bit it needs a bridge adapter
which allows a 64-bit DAW to use a 32-bit plug-in.
Extract MarsJC8Demo.dll or if bought the plug-in,
MarsJC8.dll files into the folder that is meant to contain VST
plug-ins and linked with your DAW.
For example it may be:
1) C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins\
2) E:\VSTPLUGINS\VadimTaranov\
3) D:\VSTPLUGINS\
When these files are extracted into your VST plug-ins
directory, follow the further instructions of your DAW to enlist
the plug-in into your DAW’s 3rd party VST. Then you can use
Mars JC8 as an external sound effect.

3. Usage

1 – Quality switch:
- Quality switch – allows switching between an
oversampling that is multiple of 4 (HQ), and a mode
without an oversampling (LQ), which can be used as a
“Draft mode” as it results in more digital artifacts presented
in sound, but less CPU usage. If your computer can’t
handle working in the Stereo mode in real-time, then it’s
recommended to use Low Quality mode. Usually, when
working in the Stereo mode, a plug-in consumes twice as
much of CPU power required to process two (left and right)
channels separately from each other. The LQ mode allows
overcoming this problem and having that CPU
consumption as if worked in mono.

2 – Standard amplifier controls and switches:
- Presence – controls the effect that is subjectively perceived
as “presence”;
- Input – implies control over the input signal amplitude;
- Gain – determines how much distortion the amp gets;
- PA Drive – sets the power amp distortion amount;
- Output – the final output volume control;
- Bass – controls the low end volume before the power-amp;
- Mid – controls the middle range before the power-amp;
- Treble – controls high end volume before the power-amp;
- Bright/Regular – Bright mode adds some treble to the input
signal before it goes into the pre-amp section;
- Hi/Lo – switches between High-Gain and Low-Gain
modes;
- Stereo – creates two instances of the plug-in separately for
left and right channels, simplifies the task of working with
“double-track” guitars.
3 – Stereo/Mono switch:
- The Stereo mode is presented for convenient work with
double tracks;
- In the Stereo mode you can process two totally independent
from each other audio tracks having the same convenience
with amp controls, e.g. all the setup is being produced in
one plug-in instance (window);
- It’s recommended that the two tracks must be hard panned
left and right, e.g. the first track is to be panned 100% left
(total absence of sound in the right channel) and the second
track is to be panned 100% right (total absence of sound in
the left channel), so no interference occurs between them.

4. Demo version restrictions

Mars JC8 Demo is intended to acquaint a user with Mars JC8.


However the usage is unlimited in time it still has restrictions:
- All the knobs rotation is snapped by the step of 5 except for
PA Drive stepping increased to 7;
- There is no Stereo mode.
- Presets don’t save.
If the demo version works well with your system then there is
a big chance that the full version will work well and run smooth
either. If it does not, then I’m ready to return your money. As an
option, PayPal customer protection works fine.

5. End user agreement.

By downloading the demo version you accept the


following terms:
- When starting the plug-in for a first time you are going to take
your audio system volume down to make sure that no damage
occurs.
- You may use the plug-in on any computer system that belongs
to_you.
-_You may not use the plug-in commercially.
- You may not redistribute the plug-in among 3rd parties
anywhere.
- You may not disassemble or decompile the plug-in.
Make sure that you automatically accept below listed
terms when buying Mars JC8 via PayPal:
- When starting the plug-in for a first time you are going to take
your audio system volume down to make sure that no damage
occurs.
- Your PayPal name will be printed in the VST plug-in skin
graphically and will always be displayed.
- You’ll have to wait until I prepare a special build for you. That
won’t happen immediately.______________________________

- You may use the plug-in in your commercial projects.
- You may not redistribute the plug-in among the 3rd parties.
- You may not disassemble or decompile the plug-in.
