  Bihar is one of the oldest states of India.
  Bihar was considered to be the most peaceful state.
2600 years ago people used to come to Bodhgaya
and Pawapuri to find peace and even today many
people of India come to Bihar to find peace.
 All the great kings like Samudragupta, Vikramaditya,
 Emperor Ashoka and Chandragupta Maurya be-
longed to this state.
  Bihar used to be the commercial capital of the coun-
try in ancient times. There is abundance of languages
like Bhojpuri, Magahi, Masik, Urdu etc. English,
Hindi and Maithili are the only official languages of
Bihar.
Bodhgaya
  Bodhgaya, situated on the western bank of Falgu
River, is a famous tourist destination of Bihar.
 Bodh Gaya is the biggest pilgrimage site for the fol-

lowers of Buddhism, because Lord Buddha attained
enlightenment here. Bodh Gaya has many impor-
 tant places in relation to Buddhism such as
Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhi Tree, Anupam Khera,
Jagannath Temple, Tara Temple, Ratnagiri Forest,
Mahakal Kali Temple Etcetera.
Mahabodhi Temple
 The most famous place of Bodhgaya is where Lord

Buddha attained Bodhi i.e. awakening. This temple
is notable as a World Heritage Site. Apart from this,
one should also visit the Bodhi Tree where Lord
Buddha attained Bodhi.
  Apart from these places, Bodh Gaya also has many
tourist places like Mahavir Temple, Balama Tem-
ple, Durga Temple, Vishwashan Cave, Rajyatan Van,
Nalanda University etc.

Nalanda
 Nalanda University came into existence in the 7th
 century BC.
 It was one of the very few universities in the world.

  In the east there were viharas or monasteries and
in the west there were chheyas or temples. Apart
from Buddhism, it is also an important center of
Jainism, Hinduism and Sufism.
  At the time of establishment of Nalanda University,
Buddhist monks used to reside there.
  At the university's peak there were approximately
10,000 students studying there.

 Vaishali has a very strong history. Vaishali is a beau-
 tiful village with vast orchards and fields of mango
and banana.
  Vaishali Tourism is a beautiful village known for its
amazing Buddhist sites. Vaishali has attracted tour-
ists since the beginning. Seen as a special place
and chapter from the point of view of Has been
going.
  If we talk about its history, the mention of Vaishali
has been there since the time of Ramayana.
  Vaishali is also mentioned in Mahabharata. This
place is named after the king who was known as

Vishal.
 This city used to be the capital of the Licchavi king-
dom before the birth of Lord Mahavira.

 Hajipur city is the headquarters of Vaishali district
of Bihar and

 Known for abundant production of bananas.
 This city is one of the most progressive cities of
 Bihar. Hajipur is very popular among tourists. The
 railway has a modern regional office in the city.

  The credit for promoting tourism in Hajipur goes to
the prosperity of the Ganga River located to the
south of Hajipur and the Narayani and Gandak riv-
 ers to its west.
 This place is famous for delicious fruits like litchi
and banana. Hajipur was founded by Haji Ilyas Shah,
the first ruler of Bengal.

 It is believed that in ancient times the name of this

city was Ukkal.
 Tourist Places in and Around Hajipur What attracts
tourists to Hajipur is its magnificent temple heritage
 of which Hajipur tourism is proud.
 Major attractions here include Ramchaura Temple,
Kaun Hara Ghat, Nepali Temple, Mahatma Gandhi
Setu, Sittingji of Shri Mahaprabhuji at Helabazar,
Sonpur Fair, Tsav and many more.

Pavapuri

 Pawapuri is 25 km from Nalanda. Additionally
Pavapuri It is a major pilgrimage site of Jainism.
  This city is known for being free from sin and God
Mahavir gave his last sermon here.
  Here his Mahaparinirvana took place and his last
rites were performed. This was also done here.
  There are two temples in this city, Jal Mandir and
Samosharan, which Made of white marble.
Sitamarhi
  Sitamarhi is a major district of Bihar state.
  Sitamarhi is about 155 kilometers from Patna, the
capital of Bihar state. Lakhandei River is the main
river of Sitamarhi district.
 This river flows through the middle of Sitamarhi dis-

trict. Bagmati river also flows in Sitamarhi district.
Bagmati river passes through Nepal and enters
Sitamarhi district.
  Sitamarhi district was carved out of Muzaffarpur
district as a new district in 1972.
  Earlier it was a part of Muzaffarpur district. this
district Located in Bihar near Nepal border.
  Dumra is the district headquarters. Sitamarhi dis-
trict is famous for religious tourist places.
  The birthplace of Mata Janaki is a holy religious
place in Sitamarhi district. Mata Janaki ji was born
here.

  This place is very beautiful and here you can see
the temple. Are. This place is also known as Punaura
Dham. This lake is very beautiful. Ancient sculp-
tures also to be seen here are available.
  The place is well maintained. There is a lot of crowd
here during Chhath Puja. Many people come here
and visit the birth place of Sita Mata.

Valmiki National Park
 Valmiki Udyan is situated on the outskirts of Shivalik
 range in Champaran.
 This national park is mainly the habitat of endan-
 gered animals like cheetah.
 This sanctuary is completely covered with green-
ery.

 Spread over 900 yards, Valmiki National Park was

established in the year 1990.
 The park is bordered by Nepal's Royal Chitwan Na-

tional Park to the north and the Gandak River in the
Himalayan Mountains to the west.
  Tigers, sloth bears, wolves, deer, serows, panthers,
pythons, peacocks, chitals, sambar, nilgai, hyenas,
Indian civets, wild cats, hog deer, wild dogs, one-
horned rhinoceros and Indian buffalo roam occa-
 sionally.
 Chital, blackbuck, fishing cat, leopard etc. can also
be seen in this park from Chitwan to Valmiki Nagar.
Madhubani
 Madhubani is one of the major districts of Bihar

state.

 Madhubani is about 173 kilometers away from Patna,

the capital of Bihar.

 Kamala river flows in Madhubani. Kamla River
enters Madhubani district from the country of Ne-
 pal and further flows through Madhubani district.
 Madhubani district is located in Bihar near the bor-
der of India and Nepal.
