Mesquite Marinade
Makes 1/2 cup marinade.
1 package Grill Mates® Mesquite Marinade
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 pounds chicken, pork or beef
1. Mix Marinade Mix, water and oil in small
bowl. Reserve 2 tablespoons marinade for
basting. Place meat in large resealable
plastic bag or glass dish. Add remaining
marinade; turn to coat well.
2. Refrigerate 15 minutes or longer for extra
flavor. Remove meat from marinade. Discard
any remaining marinade.
3. Grill, broil, or bake until desired doneness,
basting with reserved marinade halfway
through cooking. Discard any remaining
marinade.
Mesquite BBQ Sauce: Combine Marinade
Mix with 1/2 cup ketchup and 1/3 cup
honey. Brush sauce on meat last 10 minutes
of cooking.

We, too eat this once a week. It is our go to and love it. The
last packets we have bought look different and taste
different. Please go back to the original formula. I read you
have not changed it but something has changed. It is no

This used to be my all time favorite marinade. I looked
forward to making mesquite chicken at least once a week.
Sadly, the last several packets that I bought taste like weird
chemicals. If the recipe was changed, PLEASE change it
back! Even the consistency and smell are completely
different than it used to be. Very disappointed in the "new
flavor".

This makes great grilled chicken, pork chops and beef
fajitas. I also blend some of dry powder into my pork and
turkey injections. Also great mixed into hamburger meat for
grilling burgers. Keep it coming.

Why would you change an absolutely perfect McCormicks
Grillmate Mesquite, and add Stubbs BBQ. If I wanted BBQ
i would have used that. It is horrible, the old one was
perfect.

Yes, you can use our McCormick® Grill Mates®
Mesquite Marinade in the slow cooker. Our
McCormick® Grill Mates® products are very
universal as far as the type of proteins they can be
used on and how they will respond to a specific
cooking method like grilling, slow cooker, and

Hi Lex. You can marinate your protein using our
McCormick® Grill Mates® Mesquite Marinade, but
we do not recommend allowing both the meat and
marinade to be baked in the oven at the same time.
Any remaining marinade should be discarded. Prior
to adding your raw protein to the marinade, reserve
some of McCormick® Grill Mates® Mesquite
Marinade for basting. ~JM

Hi Aggie. For baby back ribs, you want pre-heat your
oven to 275°F. Season both sides of the ribs, place
the ribs meat-side up, and cover with aluminum foil.
You want to bake your baby back ribs for 2½ to 3½
hours. After 2 hours, check the ribs to see how they
are coming along. The ribs will be done when the
meat is cooked through and tender. ~JM

Hi Tharp. This product does not contain gluten.
Gluten and gluten products, when present, will always
be declared on the product label by the common
name of the gluten source such as “barley”, “wheat”,
“rye”, “oats” or “triticale”. It is important that you
read the ingredient statement on your package at the
time of purchase to ensure accurate, up to date
information. Our facilities have allergen, sanitation,
and hygiene programs in place. Our employees follow
good manufacturing practices and are trained in the
importance of correct labeling and the necessity of
performing thorough equipment clean-up and change
over procedures to minimize cross-contact of

Hi Chris! Here is a suggested marinade recipe: 2
tablespoons of Mesquite Rub, 1/4 cup oil, 1/4 cup
water, and 2 tablespoons of red wine or white vinegar.
Use on 1 1/2 -2 lbs. of meat.
