NOMINATION
LETTER
Dear Selection Committee:
It is a tremendous honor and privilege to write this letter in support of Outstanding Student's
nomination for the Student Leadership Award. Without a doubt, Outstanding epitomizes the
very best of our campus and his/her/their value to our community is unmatched. I have now
known Outstanding for two years. As a faculty member in his/her/their area of study, I am
very familiar with the quality of his/her/their mind and academic ability. My numerous
interactions/discussions with him/her/them have allowed him/her/their to demonstrate
his/her/their sharp mind, curiosity and eagerness to learn, and first-rate written and oral
communication skills. Colleagues who have had the pleasure of working with Outstanding
in their classrooms all remark on his/her/their academic abilities and praise his/her/their
classroom contributions. It thus came as no surprise to me that Outstanding is being
considered for a Student Leadership Award.
While his/her/their academic achievement is indeed noteworthy, I have also been
impressed by Outstanding’s work ethic and drive. Outstanding has been front and center in
many of the initiatives that are moving student life forward at our University. His/her/their
fellow group members trust Outstanding implicitly and have entrusted the responsibility of
many organization endeavors and programs to him/her/them. This is no way typical but is a
testament to the character and drive of this individual. To recognize his/her/their many
contributions and the quality of his/her/their work, Outstanding was recently elected to lead
the organization for the upcoming academic year.
Still, his/her/their stellar academic performance and exceptional service as a student leader
only speaks to a small part of who Outstanding is. No small part of what makes
him/her/them special is his/her/their commitment to service to both the campus and the
community in which he/she/they lives. Indeed, as I have come to know more about this
remarkable student I have become all the more impressed and humbled. Outstanding
gives of himself/herself/themselves on an order of magnitude that is equaled by few.
Outstanding’s list of campus activities/initiatives is a long and noteworthy one. All of these
activities reflect Outstanding’s innate leadership abilities and eagerness to assume
leadership responsibilities. Indeed, in recognition of his/her/their notable academic and
leadership work, Outstanding was recently invited to join Prestigious Honor Society. In
his/her/their “spare” time, Outstanding has also managed to find the energy to volunteer at
Local Non-profit, Noteworthy Campus Department and Impressive National Campaign. In
this capacity Outstanding worked directly with the homeless and provided support,
companionship, and service to our community. And because this isn’t enough to keep
him/her/them busy, Outstanding also continues to pursue experiential educational
opportunities through a comprehensive internship with High-Profile Employer.
Beyond any shadow of a doubt, Outstanding Student stands well apart from most of
his/her/their peers in terms of commitment to academic achievement/service and in regards
to the leadership that he/she/they exhibits. Our campus is undeniably a better place
because of him/her/them and his/her/their actions, and he/she/they both fully embraces
and epitomizes our ideal for engaged learning and community impact. I strongly
recommend Outstanding for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Highly-Respected Faculty Member/Staff Member/Student Leader

To Whom It May Concern
It is a great honor to nominate and endorse Mr. Jude Amos for the Longest Serving Award
position. After thorough consideration and review of all the employees who have served in
this company, his work record exceeds everyone else's. His record that includes punctual
attendance, participation in social activities, positive attitude, and energy among others
have shown that he has given this company more that we could ask.
Being the longest serving employee and having maintained a teachable heart al these
years makes me firmly believe that he is eligible for this award. Mr. Amos joined us in June
2000, and today has remained the most essential and efficient tool for this company.
Because of his qualifications we have been able to keep our accounts properly aligned.
He has always been honest and authentic which led to him being awarded the most
trustworthy employee of the year 2009.
Since he begun working for this company, we can identify how every shilling has been
spent allowing us to make better financial decisions. Mr. Amos's perseverance and overall
conduct are incredible. He is a source of inspiration and encouragement to other
employees making him an approachable person to talk to. On countless occasions, he has
been of great help to many of our staff who he has no business helping were it not for his
kind heart.
I am euphoric to nominate this selfless candidate for this award because he deserves it.
To crown him with this award will surely allow him to see that this company does not take
him for granted. Recognizing and appreciating him for work well done is a great offer to
give him.
Sincerely,
Simon Gait,
Operations Manager.

Dear Evaluation Committee,
It is with great pleasure that I nominate Ms. Mary Nominee for consideration for the 2016 Staff Award
for Excellence. In addition to performing her job at an exemplary level, Mary demonstrates an
extraordinary commitment to her university community as well as to the general public.
Mary takes it upon herself to provide exceptional support and service to new faculty and staff. She
discerns quickly their individual needs and moves efficiently to provide key information,
recommendations, or direction. Beyond this and during times of transition, she has kept pets, found
babysitters, health care providers, schools, and she is known for delivering meal after meal to sick
individuals. “Mary is a wonderful ambassador for our university…in assisting faculty, students and staff
as they navigate the university bureaucracy and in greeting visitors and guests. If she did not exist, we
would try to invent her,” said one of Mary’s former supervisors.
As another example, a recent graduate of our university frequently visited Mary’s office prior to
graduating. Mary and the student often exchanged news and information; Mary even offered enough
positive input that the student landed an impressive position with a local company. “Mary is the kind of
person who gives to give…she took time out of her busy schedule to meet with me and discuss my
career goals and my resume.” Beyond the unsolicited and appreciated mentoring, this student shared a
quintessential conversation that perfectly depicts the characteristic of genuine public service: “As I grew
as a leader, she showed me how to juggle ups and downs and inspired me to never stop giving. Mary
epitomizes servant leadership and inspires others to give back and pay it forward. When I asked how I
could show her my gratitude, she smiled and said, ‘All I want is for you to pay if forward when you can.’”
Fondly known as the ‘go-to’ for most things at our university, Mary receives calls daily from offices
throughout the university, students, and parents who call upon her experience and know-how for
information and advice. “Mary is helpful, caring, resourceful, and happy to offer service no matter the
task. She often performs above and beyond and recently offered her expertise and planning skills to
navigate a job search to the point of providing detailed itineraries for several external candidates. Even
though this was not required of her, she did so willingly and cheerfully,” shared a senior leadership
member. To confirm her commitment to serving the university and state, another senior leader shared,
“Over the last 15 years, I have known Mary to be a fantastic teammate…always cheerful and exceptional
in everything she does. Her quick wit, attention to detail, and loyalty to the university have endeared
her to her colleagues. She is a true champion for higher education with a tireless commitment to
serving our university.”
Outside the university, Mary’s community service efforts are unique and far-reaching. Currently, Mary
serves as a volunteer neighborhood coordinator working with a number of state and non-profit
agencies. In this role she has facilitated the development of rain gardens in neighborhoods that have
flooding problems. She has hosted the city’s training of thirty students to design, build, and install the
rain gardens as the first test case for the state.
Mary is always willing to pitch in for the good of the community regardless of the mission. At a local
community college, she worked to establish programs for work study students so they could perform
approved community service through after school tutoring at the public library. In our local community,
she spent several years serving as an assistant Boy Scout leader among other outreach.
Through many changes in leadership, Mary has made a difference at our university, exemplified the
mission of the university, and has positively impacted the people of our state. Her skills, knowledge,
willingness to help others, and dedication to our university and the community make her our Staff
Award for Excellence nominee.
Sincerely,
Nelson B. Recommender
