III. PROCEDURE:
A. Preliminary Activities
1) Prayer The teacher will lead the prayer.
2) Greetings The teacher will greet the students and encourage them to
respond enthusiastically.
3) Checking of The teacher will check attendance and take note of absentees.
Attendance
B. Review The teacher will ask the students the following questions to
recall their previous knowledge:
1) What are the three common ways to arrange trees in
an orchard?
2) Why is it important to arrange trees properly in an
orchard?
3) How does proper tree spacing contribute to tree
growth?
C. Motivation The teacher will present a YouTube video about planting trees
and encourage the students to sing along.
After the video, the teacher will ask the following guide
questions:
1) What was the song all about?
2) What tools did they use when they sang “dig a little
hole”?
3) What equipment did they use to water the seed?
4) Why is it important to use the right tools when
planting a tree?
The teacher will introduce the lesson objectives to the class.
1. Activity The teacher will give instructions for the activity:
1. The class will be divided into two groups.
2. Each group will receive five pictures of different tools
and equipment used in propagating trees and fruit-
bearing trees.
3. Each group must identify and describe the function of
each tool and equipment in the pictures.
4. The activity will last for 5 minutes.
5. After completing the activity, each group will choose
at least one representative to present their outputs to
the class.
6. The teacher will provide guidance and correct any
incorrect information during the presentations.
The teacher will divide the students into two groups and
distribute the materials. The teacher will remind students to
minimize noise, follow instructions, and work as a team.
Rules:
1. Read the instructions carefully.
2. Raise your hand to speak.
3. Keep your voice low.
4. Respect others' ideas.
5. Work as a team.
Each group will follow the instructions and complete the task.
The teacher will monitor their progress and assist as needed.

2. Analysis Each group will present its output to the class. After the
presentation, the teacher will facilitate a discussion on the
importance of each tool and its specific function in tree
propagation.
Summary of Discussion
Modern technology has improved farming with innovations
like seedless fruits and fast-growing trees. This is done through
plant propagation, a method of growing more plants, making
them stronger against pests, adapting to different
environments, and preventing extinction.
Tools and Equipment in Plant Propagation
Tools and equipment are important in the processes of
propagating plants especially those fruit trees being grown in
the orchard. Using the right tools makes plant propagation
easier and ensures proper tree care.
▪ Spade is used in tight spaces. The square-shaped
blade is perfect for digging holes for plants and
bushes, especially in established gardens where you
don’t want to disturb existing plants.
▪ Hoe is used in digging and breaking hard and dry soil.
It has a thin blade across the end of a long handle.
▪ Rake is a long-handled tool having a bar at one end
with teeth in. It is used for even spreading of soil or
leveling the soil.
▪ Bolo is a tool with a wooden or metal handle in which
a long blade is attached. It is used for cutting tall
grasses and branches of trees.
▪ Shovel is a broad scoop attached to a handle. It is used
for removing soil or weeds and transferring the soil
from one place to another.
▪ Water Sprinkler is a container with small holes on
the spout to sprinkle water on the plants.
▪ Pruning Shears is used for cutting small branches
including the unnecessary branches.
▪ Garden gloves are used while working in the garden,
made of strong rubber to protect from thorns and
withstand punctures.
▪ Spading Fork is a tool resembling a table fork but
much bigger in size. It is used for removing soil or
trash.
▪ Trowel is a tool with a curved blade used for
loosening the ground and taking up small plants.
▪ Sprayer is used for spraying chemicals to eliminate
plant insects.
3. Abstraction The teacher will ask students questions to summarize key
points from the lesson:
1) Why do we need different tools in plant propagation?
2) How does using the correct tool affect the growth of
plants?
3) Which tool do you think is the most important in tree
propagation? Why?
4) What would happen if we did not take care of our
gardening tools?
5) How can using the proper tools help make tree
planting more efficient and safe?
4. Application The teacher will present 10 real-life scenarios, and students
will guess the appropriate tool to use for each situation. The
teacher will provide the answers in a box.
Crowbar Spade Trowel Garden Gloves Bolo
Shovel Pruning Shears Rake Water Sprinkler Hoe
1) You need to dig a hole for planting a new fruit tree in
the backyard. What tool will you use?
2) You want to gather fallen leaves after a storm. Which
tool is best for the job?
3) A small tree branch is blocking sunlight from reaching
your plants. What tool should you use?
4) Your plants need water, but the soil is too dry. What
should you use?
5) The soil in your garden is too hard for planting. What
tool will help break it apart?
6) You need to clear tall grass before planting. What tool
can cut through thick grass?
7) You need to carefully transfer small seedlings from
one spot to another. What tool is best for this?
8) While gardening, you want to protect your hands from
thorns. What should you wear?
9) You need to remove weeds and transfer soil from one
place to another. What tool will you use?
10) There is a large rock blocking your planting area.
Which tool can help you remove it?
Evaluation Direction: Identify the correct tool or equipment used in plant
propagation. Write the letter of your answer on a ¼ sheet of
paper.
