Anti HCV 0.05 1.00
Non-Reactive
Remarks:
Interpretation:
Please note that this is a screening test
Positive HCV Ab results should be confirmed by HCV RNA testing
A negative HCV Antibody result does not exclude the possibility of exposure to or infection with HCV. Negative test
results in individuals with prior exposure to HCV may be due to low Antibody levels that are below the limit of detection of
this assay.
Patients with acute or recent HCV infections (<3 months from time of exposure) may have false-negative HCV Antibody
results due to the time needed for seroconversion (average of 8 to 9 weeks).
False positive results can be obtained with heterophilic antibodies in serum, especially in patients routinely exposed to
animals. Also cross-reactivity with other viral infections and diseases is possible leading to false positive HCV Ab results.
