Excellent 1996 Chanson/Modern Soul type comp, by a Russian
Roma vocalist/actress. Some of the European Sinti/Romani
musicians also write in this sophisticated style. The hazy
suspended feel in the guitar solo is not dissimilar to some of
Babik Reinhardt's comps. Alyona normally sung more of a
traditional gypsy repertoire - this one's out on its own. Alyona
came from a very musical gypsy family - she passed away in
2024. Can't decipher the lyrics - it's in a Russian Roma dialect; if
anyone could post the lyrics, that would great. There's probably
mistakes with the chords, so any improvements/corrections
appreciated.
